My girlfriend and I were just given speedway club passes to the Coca Cola 600 this Sunday in Charlotte. I was wondering if anyone that has been there before knows if there are any other options besides BMC inside the track?

I know you can bring your own beer in to most of the track, but the section we're sitting in apparently doesn't allow coolers. I'm hoping there is at least something decent I can find at the concession stands.

I may be wrong (and I hope I am) but with the money BMC dumps into NASCAR I can't imagine they'd put up with craft competition stepping in.

-Seconded. I've been to tons of races down there and just can't remember seeing anything other than bmc for sale.

-Although since Bud is the main beer sponser, there might be an inbev cart somewhere, but even then, there's nothing special to look forward to.

You may be able to find an InBev offering or two in the actual Speedway Club. However the grandstand concessions will offer nothing but BMC.

Trade your tickets for something on Turn 4 and bring a cooler with some craft cans.

That race is so long that you'd never survive drinking craft beers.

I go to pro athletic events in the triangle semi-regularly, and its great to see that some local craft beers have a strong presence there (namely at Canes and Bulls games). I was hoping that I might be able to find an Old Mecklenburg cart in Charlotte as nod a local business if nothing else.

Guess I'll just have to have my girlfriend throw a couple bombers of something that's tasty at room temp into her purse.

-Might want to consider some sort of insulation/cooling. It will be high 80's and you'll be there for like 6 hours+. God help you if you don't have shade.

There are some drinkable beers on there. 420 is actually a pretty ideal beer for a long day and night of racing. Not being able to bring your own is adding a pretty hefty expense unless you have more beer discipline than most on that night. Keep in mind they will look through your gf's purse.

Thanks for the link. I spent about a half hour researching the speedway club before I made this post. Guess my googling skills need a little work.

I've survived on 420 before too. It could be much worse. It'll be expensive, but at least the tickets were a gift. And unlike the purse option, they'll be cold too.

I was at the speedway club maybe a month ago and I survived on the Sweetwater 420 and my wife on the Widmer Hefe. There are far worse things you could be stuck drinking.
