I have a few hours to kill in the Financial District this afternoon, but i know nothing about the beer store scene in the city. Any recommendations? Walking distance from South Station/Chinatown is preferred.

    Cheers!

Bauer on Newbury is good, but that's the wrong end of Newbury for you - you could take the Green Line to Hynes and be pretty much there though.

Boston Wine Exchange on Devonshire has a pretty good selection.

    Thirded - Boston Wine Exchange.

You can also get to Charles St. Liquors on the Red line in less than 10 minutes from South Station.
