It appears to have just been removed from the website. That likely means it either just ran out, or it won't last long tomorrow.

anyone ever get the total bottle count on CD7?

safe assumption it was only a single barrel batch based on the contents.

Why is that? Wasn't it described as 'a blend of Art (2 years in barrels) with 2 year old unblended lambic'?

So close, my wife is going to HF tomorrow. Double Citra will have to be my consolation prize.

I want to say the same plural use of barrel was used in the description of DBD.

But saying "port and bourbon barrels" makes grammatical sense even it was first in one port barrel, then in one bourbon barrel. CD7 is also Art mixed with a lambic so the total batch is going to be significantly larger than the yield from one barrel of Art, even if only one barrel was used (which doesn't seem to be the case).

Let me break this down for you nice and simple, using bullet points and stuff.
    • Barrels are made of wood. Due to this, they do this thing known as evaporation. Super cool, huh? That means that while they may have started with 47-55 gallons of Art, it will certainly end up with less. Approximately 10% evaporates per year, leaving us with probably 40 gallons of Art per barrel.

    • Shaun doesn't like to release all of his beer. He tends to hold on to a large portion for himself, releasing silently at a later point, and most likely for sale in house only once he opens a brewpub. (It's happening...just wait.)

    • The Civil Disobedience series is made by blending. Most likely, they took 1 or 2 Art barrels (probably 4 maximum) and blended them in with the 40-50 gallons of 2 year old Cantillon to taste. The barrels probably didn't taste the same, and to get the ratio they desired most likely meant using an uneven ratio. I would bet that at best, out of 150-200 gallons of base beer to blend, they got 1500-2000 and blended some barrels together for a future release.
    • The current ratio being thrown around is 80% Art to 20% Cantillon. Lets assume that they had 40 gallons of Cantillon and 160 gallons of Art to blend. This gives us 200 gallons, or 2000 375 mL bottles. That would be a HUGE limited release from HF, on par with most of their regular saisons.
    • This beer stayed on the shelves for 7 days. Based on that, and the fact that no big releases from Lawsons coincided with their release, they most likely put 500 bottles or less on for sale.
    • I would be surprised if Shaun didn't hold on to a large amount of this release, considering it is obviously sought after, and I bet he wants to save a bunch to drink, release later for locals/Vermonters, and to have several cases on hand for when he opens the brewpub.
Okay- based on my stupid ass post, here is what I think. The numbers I am using are generous. Most likely, Shaun used 20 gallons of Cantillon and 80 gallons of Art, holding on to more Cantillon to blend with beers in the future. He is kind of a hoarder, so that makes sense. At 100 gallons, we have 600 bottles for the release. Shaun probably kept 4-6 cases, leaving us common folk with 400-450 bottles, probably a solid estimate for a release such as this.

Also, correcting myself before anyone else can: 100 gallons is approx 1000 bottles. Still, 600 bottles most likely saw the shelves, and Shaun kept the rest for future endeavors. Sorry for the math mistake, it happens.

tl;dr. All I'm saying is the numbers being mentioned here sound like wild speculation, and "safe assumption it was only a single barrel batch based on the contents" struck me as an odd thing to say, and still does.

Ugh. Have had a trip planned for months to go up this weekend. Do I have a prayer of another bottle hitting the shelf Friday? Seems with the silent releases, more stuff has been becoming available, but it's mid-week now. Bummer, but growlers will be consolation, I'm sure.

How much 2yo art do you suspect there is?
My speculation was based on how much they were putting into barrels 2 years ago, what has already been released, prior batch sizes, etc...could it be two or three barrels? Sure.

I don't care as I only have 1 to drink.

Based on the length of time it lasted (5 days at my count, and possibly not all of the 5th?), I would have put it a bit lower, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were 600. I assume your source is better than mine.

For the record, I'm unsure if 600 is total bottle count, or shelf bottle count. I agree, it may be safe to assume 600 is a total bottle count.

My thought based on how long this one lasted in comparison to how long Flora lasted (700 bottles on the shelf(1000 total less 300 for the DBD release) with Damon also on the shelf and it lasted a week longer) made me think the shelf count was lower. But completely conjecture. And not nearly as entertaining of conjecture as justforrazors

No CD7. Major bummer. Apparently they had "around 30" bottles on the shelf yesterday even though they emphasized that it'd been taken off the website on Wednesday (which we were aware of). Those were all gone by 12:30.

I get not wanting to do releases and deal with the insanity of hundreds of people in line, but I have to say after traveling all the way up from NYC, I can't help but be somewhat disappointed. Meanwhile, there were unopened bottles (including Double Barrel Damon) just kind of sitting around on the other side of the tasting room. Wish there was a happier medium.

Yeah it was a nice surprise. I almost wondered if it was consolation for only having 4 drafts available because one of their kegerator compressors was down. I didn't quite catch if Arthur had a limit, sorry. I only asked for one of each in the first place. I just caught that Norma had a 1 bottle limit when someone else asked for multiples of that one specifically.
