Was very weird being up there today with no releases or anything special I was one of 6 people in the tap room. I did get the last bottle of Being & Time for onsite consumption which was nice

 

Hey guys - could anyone give me any information on the BA Maple Syrup? Am I right to assume that it is indeed not beer or alcohol, but more of a sipping after dinner sweet bourbon like maple syrup? And if this is the case, is aging it not a problem? Sorry for such a potentially innocuous question, especially on the HF thread!! Thanks!

 

You are correct on all accounts, and you can certainly use it as the “after dinner sweet bourbon like maple syrup” sipper you inquire about. However, I’d suggest alternating night and day:

Age is no problem…

 

I know i missed a bunch of great stouts from Hill Farmstead i would have liked to get, but does anyone know if there are more stouts to come in the future winter months. I dont know their typical beers or rough release schedule from past years.

 

There's never been a predictable schedule, but I'd be really surprised if we don't see a few more stouts over the winter months. Last January saw Madness & Civilization #5, for example.

It might be 1PP on Thursday. It also might still be 2PP on Thursday. It also could sell out on Wednesday.

That's all I know for certain.

 

You can post and ask AutumnBeerLove later this week, as that is the best way to find out information. But nobody will know until the week progresses as it depends on traffic and the bottle count (which they don't announce).

My guess is it won't draw the crowd Clover did though. The words "Ann and Art barrels" make people go a bit crazy.

I wonder what that release would have been like had they not mentioned that until a week or two into the release...

Aaron is our barleywine-style ale aged in bourbon barrels. Aaron A. Hill (1785 - 1869) was our great-great-great grandfather who operated the original tavern in North Greensboro—an industrious, inventive and indomitable figure in the community. The Hill Farmstead Brewery logo is based upon that tavern's original sign. In his honor, we crafted this barleywine, which has rested, unhurriedly and undisturbed, for over 2 years in bourbon barrels from some of our favorite distilleries, absorbing the essence of its surroundings and history.

Brewed on Sept. 16, 2016, this Farmstead® ale was brewed with sour candy and fermented entirely in oak.

We will also release Florence this week.

Florence is our Farmstead® wheat ale, crafted from American malted barley, organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated.

 

September 16, 2016 Leaves of Grass sounds very similar to the July 16, 2015 batch. Description and time lapsed between brew and release dates are nearly identical. Perhaps the first re-brewed LoG?

 

Different recipe with the same idea...different process...Shaun says better execution/outcome.

 

I'm excited to try the Wunderkammer beer. Is this week the first time it's being sold up there? Or has "Volume 1" been on the last few weeks and I didn't notice it?

@AutumnBeerLove -- I know it's tough to say so early, but based on today's turnout do you think Aaron will stay at 2pp through Saturday? I'll probably head over on Friday afternoon after skiing.

 

Pretty confident that it will be a 2 limit on Saturday

 

I tried the non barrel aged version of the Siren Lemon Cello beer when they originally released it a couple years ago and was pleasantly surprised. It turned me on to both lemoncello (didn't know what it was prior to this) and Siren, which I subsequently visited when I was in the U.K. visiting family. Unfortunatly, Siren beers are aggregiously overpriced in the Boston market when available, but usually really pretty tasty nonetheless. I'd drop the $9 for the BA Lemon Cello without a second thought, and I've seen the Caribbean Chocolate Cake Stout at a couple places in the Portland, Maine area - that's worth the $5 - $7 or what ever they're charging too. Cheers!

On Wednesday, December 14, we are releasing two beers in our Retail Shop...

First up is Phenomenology of Spirit (Phänomenologie des Geistes).

750ml, $30 per bottle, 3 bottle limit per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our bottle release policy).

Phenomenology of Spirit was our first collaborative saison--originally conceived and brewed in 2010 with friends from Tired Hands, McKenzie, and our sister brewery, Grassroots Brewing, formerly located in Denmark. This unique offering was primary fermented and aged in French oak wine barrels along with multiple strains of wild yeast and our resident microflora.

This is the 2014 vintage, bottled in 2016.

In addition, we are releasing Leaves of Grass: July 25, 2016.

375ml, $12, 1 bottle limit per person (credit card and matching ID required, please see our bottle release policy).

Leaves of Grass: July 25, 2016 is a Farmstead® ale brewed with pineappleweed and aged in oak. Leaves of Grass represents our brewery's collective pursuit to create, explore, and challenge. For each batch, we employ uniquely different processes and ingredients. This particular batch was aged for an extended period of time in wine barrels and has undergone an extended period of bottle conditioning.

This beer was brewed in collaboration with Sterling College

What's the glassware typically available? They normally have these in stock?

 

Unfortunately, they no longer sell that shape glass. Don't break it! They have varying colored fonts of these two glasses.

It's a Durabor, TH sells them too.

 

The specific glass is Durobor Charente. A personal go-to glass for all styles of beer. If you can, I suggest always inspecting those glasses before buying - I've noticed a lot of flaws in them (bubbles in the stem, cracks, wobbly base, etc.).

 

So far as the staff at HF has told me, this is why they stopped selling this glass. Too much batch-to-batch variance in quality.

They also said they'd like to bring them back after "a break", if they can get some consistency again.
