I might lineup at 2:30 if it were free, i could drink with a friend while I waited, did not have to work, and could magically transport from CT to get there and to get back.

I think this may be the right forum to ask this: How much of a role does Shaun play in each batch of beer? I remember him being in control of the first however many and it being like a big deal (to him) that he missed one while traveling.

    Just a curiosity.

I just had Mary for the first time (sixer a couple weeks ago). Damn what a good beer. I'm so much more about refinement and nuance now in my beer consumption. I need to live closer to Hill.

The people who lined up at 2:30am are truly an inspiration to live up to

I heard the first two were an old couple doing it for their grandchildren

About 35 I would guess. Opened at 11:30 and sold out at 12:30 with 2 points of sale.

I was there for that. Mental. Complete opposite of the year before where the weather had been stunning (still proud to see I’m on the cover photo of the 2012 anni album on their site!)

Zero commendments. Actually negative commendments. Edit - you’re the bait and switch guy - it’s all coming together now.

Can anyone confirm that people actually showed up at 2:30am? That's craziness. Aside from the fact it was 10 degrees outside, I think people forget that there is a home on the property. You are basically standing in someone's driveway. I would've kicked them off of my property and restricted them from purchasing anything. It seems pretty disrespectful. That being said, it doesn't seem like the HF folks had an issue with it, so I probably shouldn't either. This "hobby" can turn into an obsession very easily...

I think I'd rather just show up later and drink an Arthur or something. No beer is worth that.

Personally, I would never show up to HF that early, but I feel like they're encouraging this behavior lately by selling magnums to the first 15-20 people in line and now with these vintage boxes. It's a conflicting message compared to the past where it was clear they didn't want people showing up early. Obviously 2am is absurd, but what is now considered acceptable? An hour early? 2? Hopefully if they continue the vintage boxes, they become silent releases and are not every day so people don't feel compelled to go to HF in the middle of the night to score these highly sought bottles.

I will never understand why people get worked up about how other people spend their time. If someone wants to show up super early and the brewery does not mind then more power to them. I would assume that they enjoyed it for one reason or another.

Taking the day off and heading up tomorrow. Any suggestions of other breweries I can check out (that are somewhat off 91) on my way back home?

Brick & Feather in Turners Falls, MA. River Roost in WRJ, VT. And not sure of your definition of "somewhat of 91" but Upper Pass' new spot in South Royalton, VT is on my list of breweries to hit soon.

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately for me, none of them are open tomorrow. I will definitely keep them in mind for my next trip. I'd also take suggestions for solid shops along the way..wouldn't mind grabbing some cloud drop on the way home.

My bad. The tomorrow part didn't register in my brain. Big Fatty's Crowler Pit in WRJ has a good selection (shares a parking lot with River Roost :slight_frown:). Big Fatty's restaurant itself always has a good taplist as well. As does Trail Break across the street. I've never been, but people say good things about the Brattleboro Coop. When I go through there during ski season I'm always too busy getting maple BBQ pulled pork and desserts from Vermont Country Deli.

It's a slight detour onto 93, but maybe Schilling Beer in Littleton, NH?

River Roost is closed on Wednesdays but Big Fatty's BBQ is in the same parking lot, has a solid tap list and a good bottle shop including crowler station attached. It's just a few minutes off 91 in WRJ, easy off, easy on. That, and the Brattleboro Food Coop off exit 3 are your best shops along the way.

They typically hold off on "big" releases during the winter months, but my best guess would be that we will be seeing one or two limited BA stout/porter offerings in the next few months.

I would not be surprised (although this is purely speculative) if the following beers were released this winter: M&C #12, BA Everett, a BoT coffee variant, and Port Damon.
