Just got a 12oz bottle of this via 2nd hand trade. The guy I got it from is a hop head so he happily handed it over.

    Are these infected?

There is no way that you can confirm this.

OP, if it is a 2013, you have a better chance that it is not infected. All you can do is open it and find out.

I've talked to the guys at central waters about this. There were no infected bottles distributed to WI. All the infected bottles were distributed to the other couple states that get CW. If this bottle was originally purchased in WI it is not infected I was told.

That said, it might taste as if it is. I opened a 2012 earlier this week and it had a taste I wasn't expecting, Maybe not off but odd. Defr nothing like the 2013 I opened after

Not true at least for 2012 vintage. I bought a 4pk in IL with no signs of Infection. My 4pk from Madison all infected :slight_frown:

Sorry that's just what I was told. If any from WI were infected I was told it would be an anamoly.

2012: Most to all are infected
2013: One of six batches were infected and that batch mostly hit outside WI

We've gone through a lot of 2013 Peruvian Morning (bought in Wisconsin), and to date none of it was infected. Last year out of the ten 4-packs of 2012 I had, two were infected (off but still quite drinkable), six were fine, and two are unknown (not yet opened).

I bought a 2013 4 pack fresh when it first came out in Illinois, drank first bottle and it tasted awesome. Fast forward 6 months later the last 3 bottles were opened and clearly infected.

Same here. I will not be buying these again. So many other beers from brewers that don't have this problem to be throwing money away.

4 four cases of Peruvian Morning in my belly over the last three years, and have yet to have a bottle that even resembled any off flavors. Won't hurt opening it and giving it a sip. It's a great beer, enjoy it.

I got 2 4pks each in Minnesota and Wisc. They were all infected to a certain degree. The longer you wait to drink them the worse they taste. I will not buy any next year till they prove it is not infected.

I was getting worried, hadn't seen a "Is Peruvian infected" thread in a couple months.

I know what the official word is from CW, but it seemed like a complete crap shoot on the bottles. I bought some at the Anniversary party that was good, some infected. Ditto for some just over the river in Hudson, WI. Friend brought a four-pack over as a thank you (& I mocked him) a couple weeks back - all four perfect.

I hope they make it again this year. Fantastic beer when it's on!

I should also say how much I like there barrel aged beers the BBBW is fantastic and the BBS is very good also. I have a bottle of CW-15 I will be bringing to a tasting soon. I can hardly wait as I have never tried it.

two years ago i started buying peruvian morning to get my fix since BCBS was getting difficult to acquire (not last year of course) while all my bottles were safe to drink from two years ago, i stayed customer and bought more from the latest batch. seems like half my bottles turned out to be infected.
anyway, my initial point of me quoting you was that it is a fantastic beer when it's on, but keyword being 'when'. it's a terrible beer when it's off. at 12 to 15 bucks a four pack it's a gamble i'm no longer making. they just lost me as a customer, forever? probably not but we'll see in 2015.

I must just be extraordinarily lucky -- not a single infected bottle so far from the 2013 run for us.

The infected ones aren't terrible, if you like that kind of thing. But non-infected is much preferred. At least in my book.

i did have a couple infected that was actually interested. but then the latest batch from my stock have been undrinkable (to my standards)

I still have 8 bottles in my cellar. Some of mine were undrinkable in fact so bad any other beer I drank that evening tasted a little off.

I bought 3 4pks in Minneapolis from March-April earlier this year. Lucked out I guess, as none of my 12 bottles were infected. Just a glorious beer.

I drank a metric ass ton of this back when it was released. the last 4 pack i purchased was infected and i was an infection conspiracy denier before that. i would not hesitate to buy this again, especially if fresh. was drinking this side by side with kbs. kbs is a little thicker, slicker, but i can buy a 4 pack of PM for the cost of 2 KBS'.

I know there have been infected bottles of PM -- I just think it's not a prevalent as some people portray it.

We did a blind taste test winter before last with PM, KBS, Devil Made Me Do It, and Jahva, and PM came out on top, but I'd like to give KBS another shot. It seems like there's a fair amount of variation in KBS, even within the same year; I feel like I've had some KBS that was great and other KBS that was merely okay.

Peruvian Morning is one of the best arguments for just buying your beer and drinking it

Just drank a Fifteen on the 22nd of October, and it is drinking remarkably! Big chocolate bomb with a very rich and creamy mouthfeel. I wouldn't say BETTER than when it was first released, but it's absolutely delicious! Enjoy.

I had several infected bottles in Chicago last year. If it's infected, take a picture of it and email CW. They will send you a check to buy more beer.
