Cycle is funny, they are one of the very few breweries I can think of that are not easy to trade for, and yet still things are available to waltz in any time and pick up.

I literally waltz in any time visit cycle. I'm very graceful for a fat guy.

That's been going on for likeeeee...6 months? Their production has only recently reached the height to go in days after a release and pick up bottles. That being said, I'm not sure why they'd be hard to trade for outside of the fact that what's being offered isn't appealing. If you have stuff from Veil or Answer that should be plenty.

Or something reasonably equivalent. Darkness for Friendly Heads Up? I don't think so.

Which begs the question, how is Friendly Heads Up not ISO all over the trade boards? It's basically BAIGCCS.

Doug really flooded the market with the recent releases, but it's going to be a while before Cycle has another. He has said he's after putting a dent in secondary beer markets, and I'm thinking my Economics 101 professor will agree that his supply and demand tactics are doing just that.

It has been a great time to be a craft beer lover in Tampa/St Pete of late. Between the recent Cycle, Angry Chair, and CCB El Cat releases my BA stout cellar is stocked to the gills. Now if only it wasn't still August with 105 heat indexes.....

It has all the same ingredients as IGCCS. It's made with Angry Chair. It pours out massive chunks of coconut butter just like IGCCS. It's barrel-aged.

I agree, Friendly Heads Up is one of those beers thats "dollar value" is lower because of higher bottle counts but every bottle I've had has blown me away, very much so like IGCCS.

Cracked another pair from the anniversary set, I enjoyed Hazelnut both times I've had it but Rare1 might be one of the best stouts I've had this year. No adjuncts just a thick thick thick well done BA stout.

There's many stouts that are similar...saying it's baigccs is a hefty claim. Be great if true but have you had them side by side?

Just feel if this was true more would be iso and going crazy over it

C'mon now, you've been around long enough that taste has very little to do with trade value. Cycle has systematically devalued all of their beer for the past year and half. Doesn't mean it's not still excellent. FHU is definitely an amazing beer certainly very close to BAIGCC. If FHU had been released during TBBW at a 1pp limit, it would be blowing up the trade boards just as much.

I mean, don't take my word for it, you're the Florida local.

Have IGCCS, IGCCCS, BAIGCCS, and FHU side by side or all within a couple weeks of each other, like I did. They're all nearly indistinguishable. The non-barrel aged is the most cloyingly, overpoweringly sweet and oily. The two barrel-aged out of both breweries add some adultness to the situation attempting to level out the sweetness, but the coffee version allows for enough earth and bitterness to make it the most drinkable and enjoyable of them all IMO.

Let's be honest, these beers all look like a grease pan mixed with some pot roast drippings and taste like liquefied version of what they're meant to. Whether that's a good or bad thing, you decide, but very few beers actually nail their inspiration like this. The fact that AC was involved in helping Cycle nail the German Chocolate cake flavors just like they already did in their own beer seals the deal for me that these not only are similar beers, but are the exact same beers. Maybe they're not, but they tasted like it to me.

There have been plenty of other breweries in Florida that have helped each other out over the years, whether it's Arkane, Cycle, JWB, CCB, and AC, and they all seem to have had a lot of intersection between each other. This has been a consistent theme down there to the point where some people, even locals, think certain beers are brewed by one brewery but in fact are brewed by another. I would love to see more camaraderie like this in Ohio but we seem to be more about collaborating out of state than within. Competition here is a lot more traditional and working together is a lot less common than poaching talent and sticking it to your previous employer, but that's another story.

Never said it was not excellent....dunno why that assumption is needed

FYI I was not the original one who brought up that iso factor.

Your responses seem as though you haven't. Plus you're not putting into context as to why you're so concerned about this.

Personally, my group only obtained one bottle of each, and consumed them all shortly after. I do not have any of these beers FT, and never have--if you're trying to imply something on that front.

I'm speaking to the ridiculous level of hype that one beer achieves vs. the relative lack of interest for an identical alternative--the latter beer's most distinguishing characteristic from the former is a different label, as it was otherwise brewed in part with the same brewer. If you've had all of these beers in quick succession I think you'd probably agree with the general sentiment.
