It's gonna be half the fun. I'll be floating around. I should arrive no later than 9PM. Gonna eat some dinner at MN town hall. Will be wearing a 2011 Darkness shirt.

Anyone planning on going to Stub & Herb's before? Should we have a set time for the bottle share event?

I think bottle share starts whenever people start showing up at dday.

I'd really like to try some Intelligensia. There are some coffee fanatics in my family and I was considering getting them some for the holidays but would of course love to try before I buy. I'm going to be one of the younger guys there, sitting next to a big red "Imperial Stout for House" sign and a girl who looks like goldilocks.

I'll also be making lots and lots of breakfast sandwiches... one of which will have your name on it.

    1) First group: 11am. It looks like the groups will be spaced every 30 minutes.
    2) Only Omar knows. My guess: 8:30.
    3) Full moon on October 29, so maybe. Right now, the forecast is 10% chance of rain. I would bring a lantern to be safe.
    4) Easy, if you like it on ice. I am bringing a half-gallon of cold-press. Chef Shack ran out in about 30 minutes last year.
    5) Find me. I don't screw around. My coffee will not disappoint.

Seriously last year was the first time I had Moe's Bender and it blew me away. It was the majority of what I drank through the day and I've spent the last year hoping it would find it a way to a tap within driving distance. Have had my hopes up high that we should meet once again on the fateful weekend.

I plan on showing up 7 or 8 by the latest. Is anyone a foodie who would like to wander over to Travail Kitchen and see if we can get in on the last seating? It's like $45 for what they call a 6 course meal, but it usually turns out to be around 13 courses and from when I last went, and it's only a mile walk from Surly.
I'll be bringing venison sticks, venison sausage, cheese, and crackers. Typically goes well with beer.
I am hoping that bringing some homebrew is ok too. I have a double IPA (hopslam clone) that I made up and should be about perfectly bottle carbonated around Friday (3.5 weeks in the bottle). This will be along with a CBS, KBS, Pliny, This One Goes To 11, and some Leinies Shandy (hey, maybe someone from not MN/WI would like to try it).
I also have a power converter that I may try to see if hooking it to my car battery and seeing if the coffee pot works off of it. Fresh hot coffee whenever. Will update tonight or tomorrow on how that experiment goes.

I think you underestimate the scale of this 'bottle share' event. The drinking will begin at probably about 5pm on Friday night and will continue for a solid 24 hours straight. There will be probably over a dozen "tasting tables" throughout the line with ridiculous beers being shared and consumed. Through the night you'll hear whispers of small groups breaking off to consume 20 year old Gueuze behind a machine shop. In the morning you will see half-consumed bottles of PVW Darklord and Bal-aged Hunahpus lying haplessly in the gutter. Most will be wise enough to pace themselves and will only be severely drunk at this point, waiting for their wristbands. But some will fall. You'll see these poor souls lying next to their precious bottles in the gutter- you'll see them throwing wild hay-makers at security guards or in a near catatonic state sitting in their camp chair. These are the people that thought they were going to a mere 'bottle share.'

I think you both need to find me. I'm the fat white guy in the surly winter hat.

Homebrew is definitely welcome. Last year I was right next to the St. Paul homebrewers' club in line, and got to try many tasty beers out of unusual containers.

I think you underestimate it. The drinking starts at 3:30pm on Friday, which is the earliest Surly wants us there.

Haha, no it is for my wife's friend. My wife is in the wedding so she'll be spending Saturday getting ready which gives me a good part of the day to go to Darkness Day. Just wish the wedding was a little later so I could make sure I can get in to get bottles.
