My vote goes the latter however, I'll choose either so long as the mouthfeel is that soft - satin like slickness that comes with age. Mouthfeel really seals the deal for me in this category.

I woud have offered this as an option, but I figured it was the easy way out as the poll goes for preference.

    Healthy debate....GO!

Dark fruits are fine, but I feel Imp. Stouts need the roasty side! B

I prefer the latter of the two, although both have their time and place.

I have not had many stouts that are dark fruit forward, but Lion Stout seems to be the best of both worlds to me with big dark fruit, coffee, and chocolate flavors.

Not much of a dark fruit fan in my stouts but ABSOLUTELY LOVE roasty, coffee, chocolate forward stouts.

I prefer my regular RIS to be malty and roasty, whereas I prefer my BA stouts with a little dark fruit/sweetness going on bro.

Damn, I need some Lion Stout in my life, can't for the life of me find it anywhere.

I love those stouts with the dark chocolate prominence, but with roasted malts and hints of expresso in the equation. Boo to overly hoppy stouts.

I voted for the second option, but I think I would tend to agree with this.

One beer, both flavors. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. Fresh has a lot of bitter dark chocolate. After a year, it has a lot of dark pitted fruit flavors.

What about Blackout Stout? I had one recently and thought it was really sweet. Same goes for 2 Bros Northwind.

    I'm not sure if sweet = fruit-forward.
