Muscat Barrels are back!
I wouldn't have traded it for anything other than a DL variant anyway and I wanted to make sure I got it before June 12 when I plan on opening
June 12 should be strictly a variant share IMO
I couldn't agree more.
The one that sticks out in my mind was a guy on Facebook offering HDNQ, Brozerker and The Monte.
Everyone following this thread crash Warren's share, time to boof some bottles of DL
We'll have HDNQ, Spaceforce, Willett Behemoth, and whatever my other buddy decides to bring.
I'm bringing T-Dogg!
Ok. I decided the theme for #dld19
Lock this thread already, sheesh
i dont get all the cigar hate.
that being said...if you are going to be puffing away in line surrounded by people you are an asshole. thats not how you do it.
Wait. Wait. Is there a Donald at this share? And a Kim?? Is it marked as ....tentative?
Anyone have any feedback on the turtledog
Nope, just like the 2-3 people that have actually opened a GTM being unable to intelligibly construct an informative review
Some dudes on the DLD Facebook group opened all the variants.
Almost all ranked Chemtrail first, Handjee second, Lounge third, Hung near the top.
Turtledog was at the bottom of most of their lists, along with GTM. Although a few people really liked GTM and ranked it just outside the top 3.
Spaceforce! seemed to be one that was ranked high, or low as well.
Everything else was just tied in the middle. FVM seemed to fall below the Port/Sherry barrel variants just above the bottom tier of Turtledogg and GTM.
Tastes much good. Better than handjee. Trade many beers for if can. Lucky me has spare bottle.
That seems about right.
Is a turtledogg like a turducken in that you have a turtle stuffed inside a leopard stuffed inside a dog?
I do love the Turtledogg reviews of “.25 stars” and then in the comments “I hate scotch.”
My plan is to just go on a scotch bender the week leading up to the night I drink Turtledogg. I think it’s the best variant, but the one you need to work most to appreciate.
Stick to your marshmallows, boys. Scotch is a man’s drink.
My brother in law and I got FVM and HandeeJ between us and are going to drink one variant on Father’s Day and one on Christmas. Which should we drink on Father’s Day?
I would think Handjee would age a little more gracefully than the FVM. with coffee, I always find fresh is better.
And this year's FVM is very coffee forward. I really liked it. I wouldn't want that coffee aroma and flavor to fade. I'm sure it would hold up well until Christmas, but it's drinking pretty great right now. The sooner the better is my suggestion.
Thanks! This was what I was thinking as well but have never tried either so good to have some additional insights!
I think it comes down to whether you'd rather have a Handjee for Christmas or a Handjee for Father's Day....
Why not both?
Anyone care to speculate on the meaning of “PARI PASSU 1929” being what’s date-stamped on the 2018 Dark Lord bottles? Just a cookie crumb? Or should we consult the real time travelers in the 2019 thread?
Lol, stock market crashed in 1929 so are they saying the market is falling out of the US economy or of resale market for DL?
Even if turtledog tasted like you were licking your own asshole, because there are only 400+ bottles, people are still searching for that coveted asshole licking experience.
So is Muerte similar, but doing so after you've had Taco Bell?
Cavalerio of Varnov was not very good. Just tasted like regular Dark Lord to me, no barrel character whatsoever.
At DLD or did you crack a bottle? I had the same experience with most of the single barrel variants (though it is possible sharing a 6oz cup that was served ice cold from the tap never let the spirit profiles evolve). If you handed me that without context I would have assumed it was just the 2018 DL.
I really enjoyed it on draft. I think it is the best wine barrel Dark Lord without adjuncts that I have had. I felt like it offset some of the sweetness of Dark Lord and I did get some dry oak flavor on the back end.
I opened a bottle. It's not like it tasted bad, it's just bad because it's supposed to be barrel aged and it just tasted like a regular bottle of base DL.
Maybe they were short and just filled some of the bottles with regular dark lord after all the hate over vintage bottles from last yr
Had the same after taste as blood
Remind me to avoid you at shares.
Then this is the most metal bottle of beer Floyd's has ever made.
We have confirmation, Dark Lord tastes like The Dark Lord!
Sounds like Dark Lord communion- "Blood of Dark Lord (sips Dark Lord from chalice). Body of Dark Lord (eats piece of brisket with DL BBQ sauce)."
Inquiring minds want to know...surely after the event Floyds was left with cases and cases of DL and a lot of variant bottles. I’ve never seen them released at the kiosk. What happens to them?
