At least he has that really cool wine cellar stacked to the gills with beer he stares at. I hope if I ever become a millionaire I spend the majority of my time being an asshat for beer.

Looks like there will be new bottle artwork again this year based on the indian theme on the info page.

Unfortunately, my lunch is 11:30-12:00. I might end up being sick that day, though...

I know everyone has to be wondering like I am, what the variants will be this year. Just out of curiosity, what does everyone think the best ever variants have been? I hope they do away with the port and moscatel. I really like cognac/brandy barrel aged stuff but never had a chance to try them as far as Dark Lord goes. I'm also hoping for Blot Out the Sun to be bottled. What is everyone hoping they bring back or maybe try new this year?

Ok but Bourbon or Brandy Barrel Vanilla? Its actually the Neverending Story where I ride on a giant flying dog with a case of Dark Lord Variants.

Brandy Vanilla is my all time favorite BADL. Had 3 or 4 glasses of it in the brewpub at 2012 DLD, best thing ever. Followed by Bourbon Vanilla '12. Both in the top stouts of all time for me.

Didn't do enough venturing at DLD last year. Do u know which tent ended up having the variants on tap. I know they were random, but was it at the guest draft tent?

It was at the tent right outside the brewpub, across from the food tents there.

Gotcha, did u happen to catch any? I wondered how many they tapped and if they announced them ot just tapped them when another blew.

I did not. Plenty others can vouch for the clusterfuck of line jumpers etc that I read about after last year's event.

If you get in that line when they announce a new keg, you are to late. Better to hit up the guest drafts or bottle share tent and the regular Dark Lord which is pouring at most of the stations.

Every new tapping was a surprise. No announcements at all.

I missed out on '11 Bourbon Vanilla, but a prime spot in line got me quick access to a full 10oz pour of the next tap, regular '10 Dark Lord, which was drinking damn near perfect. Also got some BA Behemoth w/ cherries later in the day.

I personally only witnessed one line jumper, and another guy in front of me mercilessly called him out on it. The jumper just stood there, sheepishly apologizing. The other guy was livid & looked like he was about to start swinging, but he was sober enough to know his day would be over if he did. In the end, the jumper got his pour and quickly left. This is why line jumpers do it - they know they'll probably get away with it.

I guess two of us were considered mules since the Mrs and I got shutout for tickets. Considering friends back here and I are the only ones who actually wanted DL anyway, yeah, we came back to CO with 10 or 11 bottles. I kept 5 or 6 for myself and sold the others at cost to friends here. Guess I'm an asshat. (c:

sbxx's comment notwithstanding, I'm curious about why that's "interesting"?

I was in line to get just a plain old dark lord with my roommate. As soon as we were next they tapped I think it was '11 bourbon barrel.

I have lofty, ambitious plans to remain sober enough by entrance time to remember the actual event this year.
