DC/MD/NoVA Beer Updates (2017)

Some nice brews at Sovereign right now - Perrenial BA Sump & 5th Anniversary along with Allagash Little Sal. The 5th drinks extremely well.

 

I honestly though the 5th was the best beer of the night. Then Sump. Then Sail. Then Josephine. And easy crowd no one there really at all.

 

Unfortunately missed the Josephine, tried the Allagash Map 40 and De Ranke Noir De Dottignies as well - good but the others were much better. With the small crowd, I imagine most of those beers are still available today.

 

Nope, unless they have drastically improved there beers I wouldn't buy them. Their beers sit and age on the shelf in New England beer stores.

 

Left Calvert Woodley a little while ago with some good stuff on the shelf-Paradise Bomb! And Bday Bomb (took the last on shelf but might have more) Agresric Bretta Rose and some good IPAs in the fridge

 

A lot of beers have caught up to Hopslam but it's still a deadly delicious pounder for the 10%.
Anybody else a fan of Avery Maharaja? That's become a steady mover at Whiskey's, especially cause of the price...

Avery's 24th Anniversary DIPA is pretty awesome as well, had it at Wet City on draft over the weekend

 

Has anyone seen the Pride Pils around stores from DC Brau? They are not selling them at directly at the brewery and I am headed to a pre-parade BBQ on Saturday and would love to show up with a couple sixers.

 

Saw a big stack of it at WF Foggy Bottom yesterday-- across from the growler/coffee bar, heading toward the exit, on the floor.

I will be visiting Ocean City the weekend of June 22 through the 25th for a wedding of a high school friend in Berlin. If anyone out there who was getting beers from Burley Oak this weekend was looking to do a trade, shoot me a message. I would be interested in a 4 pack of Mexi Trip and a 4 pack of Argyle Socks from this weekend's Sour Festival release if someone out there was willing to part with that.

Anyone hitting Burley Oak Saturday? I'll in the area and was hoping to stop in for the release, specifically the bottles. With 250 bottles @ 1/pp will these be available after the initial line/crowd?

 

If they do make it through the initial line, keep in mind that they are doing their sour festival starting at 2 and sold a couple hundred tickets for that. not sure how early those people will get there too.

 

I'll be at Burley Oak for both the release, and then back for the Sour Festival. I read they are keeping the bar open all day for patrons, so I am assuming the festival is outside? I've never been to it before, but I really cannot believe they sold so many more tickets after the initial wave sold out. Does anyone know if they did this many tickets last year?

 

So if I got in line without tickets for the release early, then that is a way to get the entire allotment (cans + bottles)?

They did indicate that only 50 tickets will be sold on premise for the sour festival. I am assuming this will be likely sold by the people standing in line at the release earlier in the day?

 

Anyone seen any 12 packs of 2-hearted around lately?

Yeah if you got in line without tickets before the release you should have a chance. What I meant originally was this is going to be a little different than most releases since they have an event afterwards too. Most releases just have the can sales and then everyone goes on about their day, but with the event afterwards you may have more people showing up for the releases too.

 

Saw a couple cases of KBS at the Wegmans in Sterling yesterday, behind the service desk. Not sure on limits and I think it was~$25/4-pack, didn't buy any. Is this stuff just sitting on shelves now?

 

Wegmans in Fairfax got a late delivery of it last week, supposedly they didn't get as much as they were supposed to with the first drop, so they got a little more just now.

 

Got a bottle of Mexican Cake at Magruder's today. They also still have B-Day Bomb, Weird & Gilly, Boom Sauce, Krieky Bones, Agrestic, Peche 'n Brett and others.

 

For anyone who didn't see it, Mexican Cake has been landing around town today-pretty sure it has sold out at Magruders and CBC, not sure about Calvert Woodley, and there are probably places getting it that haven't announced it.

Also most remaining places in Va seemed to get Stickee Monkee today, including K-1 and Lost Dog South Arlington.

 

Just called CW. They said they've only got one bottle left, and it's on hold for someone. Bummer.

Well I was going to take a walk up to harrys during lunch to snag some Mexican Cake...I may still go up there and see what else they got. Maybe they still have some of that Key Lime Gose...

 

Strolled in around 4:30pm and was able to grab everything with the exception of the BA Passionfruit JREAM. Wish I could've stayed longer to enjoy the event.

 

One of the best big-distro beers of last year in my opinion and a great value if I recall correctly. Nimble Giant in one week.

 

I am probably the only one who cares in the DMV but anyone see any Cascade Kentucky Peach pop up anywhere?
