I feel like the last 6 or so that Ive bought from my regular spots have been about a month past prime. A friend back east sent me some Heady Topper and some Lawson's recently, and I want to pay him back w/ my favorites on the local scene, but I want to make sure theyre the best representations possible. I've got a Pliny, Double Jack, 2 x Myrcenary, 2 x Modus Hoperandi, and need a fresh DD DIPA to finish off the set.

I would buy direct, and add a Hop Notch to the mix

brewery is a given but its so far away that i never make it out there. argonaut is one of my usual spots where i feel my last few havent been awesome. that said, i wouldnt be too surprised if argonaut is one of the top movers of the stuff and might still be the best bet.

maybe i'll take the dog down to cherry creek state park and swing over to the brewery...

I dont have much experience buying it at multiple spots since I mostly go to Argonaut. I've bought a fair amount at Mr Bs too. No problems.

Are you saying DD DIPA is even close to HT? I've had both and they aren't even in the same league. HT all day dude!

No, that's was not even implied. Dry Dock still makes a decent DIPA. I get my Heady fresh from the brewery so I know it's born on date, but I was just making the point that since the Alchemist also does not date their product you have no idea how old it is or how it has been stored/cellared.

The guy i trade Heady with goes to the brewery to get it. So its fresh.. At least the ones i have gotten from him have been. Plus i don't mind taking a chance on a world class beer,IMO. Which DD is not, Its a very good DIPA don't get me wrong..
