I really wouldn't mind if it was someplace else, a larger space. It gets crowded at times with the pool tables in the way.

It would be a travesty if it changed venues. No way it leaves the Koop

ick, I wonder if that means they're selling more tickets, which means more people drinking MY beer.

I had this same thought. Limiting it to only 500 people was a big part of the charm of this event.

Hmmmm. The Wynkoop is always such a great venue for events like this. Hopefully it's still there.

There are only 500 tickets available again this year. It's been publicized, so unless they change it, that's the number of tickets for sale. The McNichols is a great venue. Went to the craft spirit DStill event there, and it was awesome.

This is good news. If the past three years are any indication, this will be a great event, regardless of the venue.

When I purchased tickets shortly after they went on sale the location was TBD...now showing the McNichols location on the ticket purchase link.
I for one am happy if they keep ticket sales at 500 and maybe a bigger venue or better layout. Wynkoop was a bit crowded at around 2-3pm.

So tickets have been on sale for over a month, and they haven't sold 500? Hope they didn't up the amount of tickets for the new location

I don't recall them selling out within a month last year though. I'm sure some people out of towners traveling have to limit their costs so it may be tough to justify $100/person even though after going last year, I know it's well worth it. Potentially with them having not yet attended one of these, they may not know what they'd be missing.

I have seen people mention not buying things like airline tickets until they see if they get tickets to GABF. I wouldn't be surprised if people wait to be event tickets like these for the same reason. I for one and coming to Denver regardless as there are so many great events beyond GABF.

We can confirm we are moving to a new location for Denver Rare Beer Tasting V: The McNichols Civic Center Building at 144 W. Colfax. We enjoyed our four years at Wynkoop Brewing and appreciate their help in getting this event established, but decided to make this move for several reasons. The space is closer to the GABF site and public transportation. We will have additional room, which allows us to add some breweries and increase the number of tickets so we can accommodate more craft beer fans.

We have been at capacity at Wynkoop all four years, selling 500 tickets each year. This year, 650 tickets will be available. (75% have already been sold, meaning the Denver Rare Beer Tasting would already be sold out at this point if we did not make this move. As mentioned in this thread, some people are holding off on Denver plans until they see if they get tickets to the GABF. They would be closed out of our event if we did not move.)

We want to keep this event fun and maintain an atmosphere where craft beer fans and brewers get a chance to interact. We know McNichols will be different than the Wynkkop, but we are working hard to make this a great event. In 2009, we sold 500 tickets and had 24 brewers (20.8 guests per brewery). In 2010, we had 26 brewers (19.2 guests per brewery). In 2011, 30 breweries poured beer at the event (16.7 guests per brewery). In 2012, there were 34 breweries on hand (14.7 guests per brewery). This year, if we sell all 650 tickets and have the planned 40 breweries on hand, it will be 16.3 guests per brewery.

The team at All About Beer Magazine has been doing a great job recruiting some amazing breweries for this year's event. You can learn about the 20 breweries confirmed so far and get more information here: http://www.pintsforprostates.org/?p=1478

We look forward to seeing you on Oct. 11!

Looking at some of those (the Bruery, Alesmith, Crooked Stave, AC Golden, Lost Abbey, Cigar City, etc.) - anyone who wasn't sure if the price was justified now knows it is.

2 years ago, CC brought rum barrel aged Nielsbohrium. Tasty, that was.

I for one am happy to see a change in venue. I enjoyed it at the Wynkoop but felt that at the busiest time it was very crowded and difficult to get around to all the tables. I like the breakdown that lyke2drink had for years past. So a 150 more people but more breweries. It has always been a great event. I won't say I've liked every beer that was poured but they've always been on the rare side.
