Totalwine in WA has them for 11.99 each, sadly limit 1 per person
Heard California is a month or two away
I picked up 6 for about $12 each at total wine in Tustin. They had no limit so I picked up 3 for me and 3 for a buddy who was out of town. I didn't buy any more because I wanted to leave some for others. This was earlier in the week. I'm sure they are out but they seemed to think they may get more later.
Not sure what part of CA you're in, but bottles have been in NorCal for about 10 days. Popping up on tap in San Jose now too
Did you have to ask for it? New Total Wine in Lynnwood whenever I ask they point to shelf and claim if it's not there they don't have it. One particular employee isn't exactly the sharpest tack in the box though. Doesn't know one beer from another simply starts the simplistic narrative how they sort beers by style - not true.
I tried calling the lynnwood store, they claim no go until the 1st which I don't believe, I just suspect they don't care. I had to buy from Bellevue, which sucks considering further away but hey the GF is the mule for this purchase . It was online
I bought two bottles of this, both for aroun 12 bucks in colorado. I love it! I'd easily say that it compares to 24, which was one of my favorite beers last year period. I love the slight dark fruit character of it, along with all the other factors, chocolate, bourbon, ect... Def a winner!
Called total wine along with 10 other stores in SoCal.. Nothing
How would you rate abyss? Better than parabola? Black butte? Does it need to be aged?
I snagged my 2 (~$13 each) at Total Wine Tustin on 7/3. I think you were a little late They didn't even have a placard yet and they were getting cleaned out. BTW, I know a place in Santa Monica with XIV still if you're interested.
anyone know if this is coming to IL?
Parabola>Black Butte>Abyss. Yes.
They had a bottle limit for you? I went in on the 9th and they let me buy as many as I wanted. I guess the people working then just didn't know what it was.
I rate an Abyss above both the others, I would then go for the Black Butte depending on the year and then Parabola.
Of course im a Deschutes fan in a big way.
But then I can be persuaded to go Parabola second
I snagged 3 at Total Wine Laguna Hills Sunday (July 14th) and they still had more. They were hiding in the walk in cooler in the box, had to ask where they were. Said there was a limit of 1 at first but they weren't moving so they took the limit off. Looking at their site it still says they are in stock, you can even order online and pickup within 14 days. Just a short drive from the Tustin store.
Yes it is.
You got 3 Black Butte, or Abyss?
Black Butte, wish they had Abyss.
I found a bunch of bottles just chillin on the shelf at Safeway (Redmond) - $12.49 per bottle
Ah - I barely knew what it was (I'm pretty new to craft beer) but from seeing this post I figured it would be good. There was no limit.
Now ur just bragging! For real, wish I had this problem down south!
limited quantities in the midwest as well for some reason...or maybe just where I live. I am still on the lookout for some!
I called them and they said they wont get until November (based on last time-frame last year).
Not trying to brag at all, was actually floored to see the stuff just sitting out like that. Most of the other places around here have limited quantities and/or bottle limits. Needless to say, the grocery bill ended up being slightly more than expected (don't tell my wife, lol)
I can send you a few bottles if interested - let me know.
Got mine in MN
If that offer stands for other members shoot me a PM!
The market next to KNB wine cellars (in SD) had some Saturday along with helix liquor, Beverages4less and a few other places...but no idea what part of SoCal you're in...
San Diego / OC I guess I'm talking about Abyss, not Black Butte. You're right I see Black Butte everywhere.
OHHH, gotcha . Yeah, Abyss is November-ish of each year.
I knew u weren't man, I'm just jealous of that shelf! I know the old Honey I got to run and get milk that ends up costing me $60 trick! Don't we all.
Ha! Next to the Corona #cervezamasfina
What? It wasn't the Corona he was referring to?
I'm seen Surly bombers right next to Four Loko cans in a fridge.
Found it at Total Wine in Vancouver Wa for $11.99, and they had plenty, picked up a couple more now I have 6
Is anyone else picking up odd/off flavors from the BB XXV?
I had this on tap at the Portland brewpub location and holy smokes does this live up to the previous years!
Found some in the South Bay. Still haven't seen it in Santa Cruz area though.
The sharpness of the currants (at least I assume that's what it is) plays a little strangely with the barrel/roast. I'm not a big fan of fruit in my stouts or porters, but this worked better than most for me, it was good. Still, not one I'll be stocking up on.
