After talking about it some and finally finding the time to finalize with a venue I'm happy to invite you all to a bottle share, DFW Bottle Share - Craft & Growler Dallas. Kevin at Craft & Growler made this very easy and he's looking forward to hosting us. I'd love to do more of these at C&G in the future, so lets make sure we don't screw the pooch on our 1st visit. ;)

I "created the event" in an airport on my phone so if things you feel are important were missed do not hesitate to recommend either on this forum or in a beermail to me. One thing I know I missed is they do not serve food so please eat before.

Please see the previous thread DFW Beer Advocate Map (For Tastings, Etc) for carpooling, setting up smaller "local" tastings before or after, etc.

After clicking on the event link above and saying that you are attending, please list what bottles you plan on bringing so we don't get to many duplicates.

I'll start this thing off by saying I'm bringing one of my babies a 2009 Dark Lord Imperial Stout. That might not be much to some but hopefully this will bring some people who otherwise may have not attended.

    Cheers & Beers,
    -Matt

This is great, and a perfect venue...perhaps the start of a beautiful friendship...thanks so much for spearheading this! Maybe by then, my brother and soon-to-be proud Papa yelof77 will get a hall pass and be able to make it!

Let Funk and Sour duty commence. Starting off with an Hill Farmstead Anna and a Cisco Kriek. Will be adding as the days progress.

Thanks Matt for kicking this off and throwing down a big boy. Never tried the Dark Lord but an '09 is perhaps a great place to start.

I'm in. I will have to look through the ol' cellar to see what's ready for sharing. Maybe 2006 aventinus.

    Cheers,

Just because it isn't publicized on BA doesn't mean it's not happening...

That was my point its good to see a public tasting like this from Matt in this forum, nothing else. To your point were having one here in Dallas on the 27th that's not publicized, cant wait.

Exactly! Beer people are good people, and it's great to get together and try great beers - officially "sanctioned" or not!

    Cheers!

Josh, I always heard that DFW is too spread out to have a large group monthly tasting. Everyone that told me this was probably right. We just don't have a great centralized location like Austin and Houston seem to have. I think there's a nice sized group of us who envy what Houston and Austin have with their monthly shares. I think we can do a large group bottle share here in DFW every 3 months and that's a goal of mine to at least start off with.

I hope this one tasting can spur off more smaller group tastings that are localized. I have one a month at my house for the past 4 or 5 months. I thought there were only 3 BA's in my area other than myself... I was wrong. If my house was bigger I'd host the group of 12 to 15 that live on the east side of town. Though I think my house is about to be thrown by the waysde now that I know Craft & Growler will be an option.

Get to know your "local" BA's folks, minimalize that drive time!

Something tells me the turnout will surprise you in a good way. I posted a generic Austin tasting once and the guys from ABW saw it and let us have a tasting at their brewery. The most unforgettable tasting ever. I may still be in town for this, if so would love to join yall.

I'm in for sure. Don't think a Cowboys playoff game is going to interfere. ;).
I 'll have to check the dates on the stuff in my cellar. I think I have a few that are over 2 years.
I will try to schedule a trip. to SA, so I can bring some Freetail

Well sorry if you can't. I had hoped a months notice was enough and I'm sorry if it wasn't. Friday nights & Saturdays are not an option for large groups. I'll try to put one together in February which will likely be a lot smaller.

Oh no, it's more with a bottle share falling on a sunday, mass consumption with work the day after is just not a good idea for me, haha.

Where was I when companies began giving MLK Day's off from work? Lol, Matt, I don't work in a bank... or post office(wait, I think even the PO is open that day, no? :)).

Anyway, I'm in the same situation as air and Fern as far as Sunday tastings go. Not only will I be working the next day, but Sundays are normally days I spend with the family/daughter. I even skip watching Cowboys games(well, I dvr, and watch them later that night, hah!) to spend time with her because that's "our" day.

Having said that.. I'm not totally ruling out showing up for this. On rare occasions her mother will make plans for Sunday and we'll swith out to Sat. That, and I've been dying to check out Craft and Growler since it opened. There's a huge "maybe" with my name on it...

I assumed if the evil empire (TWC) gave MLK Day off everywhere did. Oops! This starts at noon and ends when you need it to. I feel the first hour or two would still be worthy of the visit to C&G. 1oz pours is probably what we're looking at with a large crowd... Now I'm just making excuses to get you guys there :D.

You don't have to mass consume..at least in my experience these things don't turn too crazy. Still you can plan on drinking a fair amount for that late in the weekend.

Show up, pop a bottle or two and head home early.

Ill try to remember name tags. (These work so well at recognizes people across both sites)

Nope, don't have the day off. Huge stacks of holidays are on the (very short) list of things I miss about working for the feds.

And I didn't even realize the early start time, I might try and pop in for a little bit then!
