Oh man!! So much for this being a pool beer!

Still sounds pretty interesting and I'll definitely look forward to trying it!

It sure would be great to have a NE style IPA available fresh locally. But that ABV is scary. Count on me to try it though.

Really hope they continue to experiment and get some nice beers in the 7-8% range where most of the NE IPA's are clocking in at.

Honestly, I don't know why everybody is so enamored with "New England Style IPA's." Hell, a few years ago that meant slightly more malty and much sweeter than "West Coast IPA's". Now it means something completely different. There are a ton of excellent IPA's made (many in Texas), that don't have to fall into these categories. Oasis He-Man Session Hater might be the closest to what you all want, and is fantastic. Though anything from Austin Beer Works Heavy Machinery, to Lone Pint Yellow Rose, or Hops & Grain Mosaic really are great as well. I guess they don't have that hype factor anymore though...shrug.

As for this release, I'll give it a fare shake if I see it (being in Houston, I would not count on it though). Hopefully it is not as messy as something like Founders Devil Dancer.

I agree about He-man Session Hater. I grabbed 3 pints of it last night, such a wonderful IPA. I rate it next to Yellow Rose. Hopefully Oasis continues to brew it.

Hoping this is available when I am there in a month. Or might have to set some IP trades up for anything that has been interesting lately.

I was able to try a few different versions on the pilot system and super excited to see how it comes out on the full run next month!

Sam aka Big Hoppa loves his hops and abv!!

It seems like people still use the term "East Coast" IPA to refer to the more malt forward DFH 60min types of IPAs. NEIPA has definitely become it's own thing.

True. Maybe I was just using the two terms interchangeably a few months ago...still don't get all the hype about these?

Correct me if I'm wrong but apart from dankasaurus I'd be hard pressed to name any other TX IPAs that are like the juicy, hazy NE ones. Nothing wrong with the existing TX IPAs but a TX made NE style IPA is definitely welcome.

Pinthouse gives it a go, but obviously that's just in Austin

I was @ Pinthouse's Burnet location a couple weeks ago. Tried 5 different beers - a mix of IPAs and DIPAs. Found all of them to be way too bitter... certainly nothing like the NEIPA style.

That said, I did get a pint of Electric Jellyfish when visiting Jester King that same weekend and loved it. Wouldn't classify it as NE re: taste, but it was cloudy and delicious.

Drinking this now. It's really good. It's not easy going, but I would not have guessed 12%. More like 9 or 10%. It hits hard at first, but it really smooths out during the second half of the can, and makes you feel fabulous.

It's a one of for me due to the ABV though. I would love to see something like this at 7 or 8%

I thought it was really good too. Definitely a big beer but with tons of complexity. Not sure I would say it is NE in style though. However, like Techichi, I will not be able to work a 12% into my rotation too often. Nice change of pace and excellent addition to the DFW brew scene though.

Tried on tap and I was expecting a real malty mess - something like devil dancer as someone earlier said - but I got a ton of grapefruit from it, and an all around good hop load... not sure if cans will come to austin, but I'll grab some if they do

Big Hoppa was a one time release...atleast for now!

The crew did a awesome job creating that beer with our inspiration. Kegs are still floating around, and we may have some cans waiting for the new location in fort worth to open with.

    Cheers Y'all!

After finishing off the last one, I really started to miss it lol. I've been keeping an eye out for them. I don't see it at any of the major stores in Fort Worth.

Hope to see this again, but not too often. MH does a great job with all of the monthly releases they have, plus the Cellarman's IPA. Always exciting when you see your favorite, or something new pop up.

Also, thank you again for coming to FTW. We really needed you guys over here. And it doesn't hurt you are putting your shop about a mile away from me. Time to get a growler holder on my bike!

So it looks like MH did make another IPA at 6% called Friday. Grabbed a growler and it's pretty good. It's nice to see a brewery so close to home doing good things.
