Distribution in Louisiana

I saw some Sucre at the Whole Foods in Metairie today.

 

Ah! It's me. I do all our media. Managing would be a generous term. Between the basic bar running and the kids I'm not very consistent.

Anyone know if Louisiana will get any Anchorage - A Deal With The Devil?

 

I was fortunate to try this at The Festival last summer. Phenominal beer.

I've heard that less than 200 cases are hitting distro nationwide. Would be a major coup if some of those made it here!

 

It would be surprising, since Anchorage doesn't appear to have a distro deal with Louisiana.

 

Not sure what you mean, but we definitely get or have gotten Anchorage beers over the last couple years distributed through International.

 

probably only the Mikkeller collaborations. When you see Galaxy, Between the Staves, Bitter Monk, Rondy Brew etc it'll mean they distro here. If I was running that place I'd get myself into TX and several other states with bigger craft markets than LA before setting my sights here.

But if you see The Tide and It's Takers shoot me a BM. I'd drive across the entire state for a few more bottles of that beer.

 

I've picked up a Galaxy at Aquistapace's on the northshore a few months ago. Recall seeing a Tide and it's Takers too. Is this not common statewide?

 

I know for a fact we've gotten at least Bitter Monk, Galaxy, and Love Buzz here. I've bought the Bitter Monk a few times. One of my favorites.

 

Anchorage comes to us via Shelton Brothers. Like westbrooke ( with 12%) that means we have access but no distribution agreement with the actual brewery. If you are interested in particular bottles the best way to get them is to let your retailer know you want them and have them place an order with international. We do not have access to draft with Ancorage... At least I've never been offered kegs.

I don't know what part of the state you live in so I can't suggest a bottle shop but I will suggest that you form a relationship of some kind with one. When the Shelton truck comes in I know Dan Stien calls those people he knows are interested in particular beers on the truck... Same with 12%. Wile that might seem obvious for rare sours its just as important with hoppy beers. Many retailers don't want to stock hoppy beers that sit on the shelves and go bad so they don't order it if they aren't sure they will sell it.

 

I'm in Shreveport/Bossier which isn't terrible but it is far from craft beer paradise. Now I have to talk to the guys at Brewniverse and ask them to man the harpoons. Or just suck it up and drive three hours to raid DFW.

I'm also not sure why I'm seeking out beers when I'm sitting on well over 20 cases and still have to get almost four cases of The Bruery Reserve Society beers shipped to me... At this rate I might end up on Hoarders.

 

Anybody in Shreveport wanna grab me a couple bottles of Great Raft's All My Tomorrows? I believe today is the release date.

Someone mentioned there was some stuff we get in south Louisiana that doesn't make it up North? I could send anything like that in return. If y'all don't get Stone, a fresh batch of Enjoy By just hit, bottled on 5/28.

Could you give us a heads up when Founders Double Trouble arrives? It was bottled a month early, so should be shipped fairly soon, depending on when the next truck is supposed to show up. Thanks.

 

It due soon... But they told me it was arriving in July,,, which seems odd if it has already been bottled. Maybe we are getting a second run of it?

 

I think that could be likely that we get a second run. I'm not sure from an industry stand point how important of a market we are to Founders, but I don't imagine we are on the priority list when it comes to distribution.

 

I'm sure we are still in the "figuring out where Louisiana stands" on their priority list. I think its too soon after launch to determine whether sales are meeting expectations or not. Personally, I see stock continuing to be replenished, so I'm optimistic that we aren't doing too shabby.

 

Very true and I didn't mean to sound negative. I just am hoping at one point that we will be big enough to get larger quantities of either the special releases be it backwoods bastard, devil dancer or kbs

 

Anybody know if we will get the new Fantome/Jester King collaboration Del Rey??
