Sometimes when visiting a fellow beer enthusiasts home I find that their fridge is filled with exclusively one type of beer (often times IPA's). Personally, I am not a fan of having only one or two styles on hand. I like having a diverse lineup when possible (aka, when it's not too expensive to do). I get burned out on one style quickly during the course of an evening, even when it's one of my favorite styles. As such, I like to be able to rotate through various styles. Additionally, if company comes over (as is expected in my home this weekend) I want to be able to offer something that fits their desires.

What say you? Do you like to have all one style, or two styles? Or do you like to have porters, stouts and brown ales, right next to your Czech Pils', IPA's, Heffs and Sours?

Variety is the spice of life. I like to have several styles on hand, however I find my current stash tends to lean heavily on bigger stuff and sours because they usually come in big bottles which I don't typically open up on my own and because the stuff that is better fresh gets consumed quickly. I also typically brew the medium level, easy drinking stuff (IPA's, browns, porters...) so I usually buy the more extreme offerings.

Style infidelity is a vice of mine. I am known to have over 20 different styles on hand on any given night. Unlike "The Most Interesting Man in the World", I am quite the beer philanderer.

No. I tend to stick with IPA and Stouts. Always have a stock bar with Rum,Scotch,Vodaka,etc....for mix drinks but normally only 2 types of beer in the fridge.

Quality is more important than diversity.

I celebrate diversity in beer, but it takes me a year to do so. I generally drink certain styles depending on the season, or what mood I'm in. I'm just about through my marzen mood, and I'm shifting into a short pumpkin phase, then i'll transition to autumn ales and brown ales. Throughout the year, i'll eventually go through all the styles.

Yes. But every style has a standard-bearer of quality. So diversity and quality are not mutually exclusive.

I practice more of a class system...IPAs, stouts, and sours...with diversity within each class.

I just did a quick count and I've got over thirty different styles just in my fridge ready to go right now.

Diversity and my fridge is full of it. So much so I wish when that when the door is closed and the lights go off all my beers could get together and make babies!

Variety is the spice of life!

I envy you immensely. That's my dream, a mix a six aisle in my own fridge.

I keep about a dozen beers in my fridge at a time, rarely is there more than one of the same beer in it. I only buy mixed 6ers because I enjoy so many different beers, except for the premium 4 packs.

I have two roommates, yet somehow I managed to secure nearly two shelves of the fridge to store beer, as well as one of the side racks for bombers and a crisper for cans. It's a beautiful thing.

As many styles as possible in the fridge is the way I go. I prefer stouts the most, but I often times want something lighter. Also I have a lot of friends over and they like a lot of different styles.

I used to have a lot more diversity but now I have a lot less now that I know I strongly prefer certain styles. My ideal lineup is something like this:
Some sort of lager, like a California common, amber lager, or Oktoberfest
A wit (The wit purists may weep over this, but I'm not opposed to fulfilling this desire with Blue Moon because I'm cheap)
    An ESB
    A straight porter or stout
An oatmeal stout or milk stout

So diversity, but within my personal preferences.
