If I lived in VT, I would never order or have people mule for me again. I'd spend the rest of my days drinking Heady, and that's no bullsh*t.
I love going to bottle shops in-person, not only to support small businesses, but also to check up on the local industry.
I wish Illinois was more of a favorable DTC state, especially when seeing some of the Sierra Nevada DTC-only releases. Have ordered a couple times from Half Time and had a positive experience with them. Would use them again. But I'm fortunate to have plenty of good options available at local stores/breweries so do not really have a need to use delivery generally.
I have BOTM subscriptions to Good Times Oakland and Beer Drop. Occasionally, I order from Bine & Vine.
Focal Banger is a tasty IPA as well. When I toured The Alchemist Brewery I left with two four-packs, Heady and Focal Banger. Cheers!
Miami, Florida is the official home of Mediocre beer. We don't have a single bottle shop dedicated to quality beer. 1 single gas station supplies us with out of town treats like: Schilling, Outer Range, OtherHalf, Bierstadt, Grimm, etc.. $25 - $35 4-packs is not cute. But that's all we have to work with here. So.. 1 billion percent willing to pay for shipping fees. 1 trillion percent worth it. I order semi-frequently from Halftime(NY) and Bine & Vine(San Diego) and both are exceptional at what they do.
Never. I'm skeptical about bottling/canning dates of mail-order beer. Even if it were guaranteed to be fresh, I still wouldn't do it. Shipping costs gotta be no joke and I've got great breweries around me anyways.
Here in PA we are lucky to have shipping from a number of PA brewery's and quite a few adjoining states will ship here with little or no shipping cost. We've come a long way in the past decade in the state.
Yes, shipping is indeed an option here? Do you regularly have beer delivered vs buying from your local beer retailers (beer distributor)? Are you concerned about received non-fresh product? Cheers’
I spent time today trying to order from Half Time and I was told each time they couldn’t. Ship to Vermont. So it does depend a lot which state you live in. I used to live near Poughkeepsie and Half Time was by-and-far the best thing about that area. The second was the ease of taking a train down to NYC.
I do both Jack with beer distributor the most often. The beer shipped to me and the local brewery's I go to are usually 2 to 4.5 weeks from canning date. The beer distributor is a whole other story!
You cant get beer mailed and shipped to you in this state anyway unless you know something I dont. All you can do is order it from a local store and they can deliver it to you if they have that option.
Random nostalgic thought: Back when I was living up in the Big Horn Mountains, getting Beer of the Month delivered by UPS honestly felt unreal. Most people don’t realize what mountain life is like — you’re literally driving up to around 8,300 feet just to get home. So having a delivery truck make that climb, in winter no less sometimes, just to drop off a box of beer… it always stopped me for a second. It was one of those small, strange joys that made you appreciate both the beer and the place a little more.
Never, since it seems we aren't talking about trading. I won't order Other Half or Burial unless they're running free delivery specials.
