Do you refuse to drink any BMC beers?

?

Will you drink BMC beers when that's all that's available?

  1. No way! I bring my own beer no matter the situation. Go craft or don't bother!

If they make beer that I enjoy I drink it.

Definitely take good beer whenever there's a choice. But I'll drink whatever if it's not available. And I don't try and make every occasion an epic craft tasting occasion, when the focus is on something else.

I just won't drink light macros. Might as well have a water since that's all the body and flavor is. But a regular Labatt Blue, Negra Modelo? If its all thats there sure, just bring on the wings and tacos with those. But a couple macros i can always enjoy are Yuengling or Old Vienna, blows most other macro stuff out of the water(pun intended)

I do not refuse to drink it. I do refuse to buy it. If I am in a social situation and that is all that is there I drink it. Since I homebrew and people know it they usually ask me to bring some. I would say it has been 2 or 3 yrs since I have had one.

I don't "refuse to drink" them - I just haven't purchased them on a regular basis for over 40 years (the exceptions to which I recently tried to recall in another thread) but will very infrequently drink one when offered and there's no better alternative and I feel like having a beer (or something close :grinning:).

The last two I remember, in past 5 or 6 years, was a Coors Light from my BiL (after I had exhausted my beer supply tailgating in the rain on a hot summer evening before a Dylan concert) and a can of Budweiser from another BiL at a summer family party. In both instances I recall that after the first couple of mouthfuls I thought to myself, "Gee, this isn't too bad. Sort of refreshing..." but by the end, thinking, "Damn, this is really pretty tasteless..."

I don't buy them or drink them anymore. I've found that the beers that use adjuncts will give me a headache about an hour after I drink them. I won't refuse a (non-adjunct)BMC-owned beer, like Shock-Top or Stella, that is offered to me by a friend or host because IMO that would be poor behavior. I know it may sound strange, but since I began drinking quality made German(Reinheitsgebot), Belgian, American etc. beers, I've yet to experience a headache or hangover as a result.
Although my pants don't fit like they used to either.

Not at all. You just stated you aren't trying to be a snob, then throw in a completely condescending comment at the end about your friends. "Less enlightened"??

It's called water. It's called red wine. No need to drink something bad. I've got plenty of beer at home.

I refuse to buy any products from Abinbev or SABMiller (amongst many other businesses, but those aren't beer related). I will however drink their products in certain situations. For example, I visited a co-workers house for the first time a while back he offered me a Natty Ice. I don't have anything against the American Adjunct Lager style, though it is far from my favorite I think it hits the spot every now and then. I also thought turning the beer down was a bit rude, so I drank it. It was enjoyable for what it was. My boycott against ABinbev and SABmiller isn't because of their products. Now, if you want to say that I supported ABinbev by consuming that beer (as my buddy seemingly would have had to go spend money on more Natty Ice to replace the one he gave me), that is a fair criticism. However, I can only control my purchasing actions and thus, I only worry about my purchasing actions.

If he wanted to give me a BCBS the situation would have been similar (in the sense that the beer isn't something I'll ever by, but I will drink it if someone has been gracious enough to offer it to me as a gift- although, if it were BCBS, I'd definitely enjoy it more than the Natty Ice, ha).

As far as being invited to something where it'll only by Bud, Miller or Coors Light...hmmmm....I really can't imagine that happening. Any venue that would hold an event around here will most definitely have Sam Adams, if not Narragansett, which I would be fine with. If it were at someone's house, I'd probably bring my own cooler of craft, with plenty of choices so others could have some if they were so inclined.

I don't refuse to drink them, but I do refuse to buy them.

I quit smoking cigarette's because I believed tobacco giants didn't deserve another $10 bucks from me.
I quit buying BMC beers because I believe big BMC corporations don't deserve another $10 from me.

I know it's virtually impossible to avoid all monopolies and excessively large corporations, but one can be an educated consumer! I believe all fish should get the chance to swim. Not just the rich and greedy.

It really depends on what was available. If it was just Bud and Miller Lite, then I would happily drink wine and/or mixed drinks. If Becks, Heineken or Amstel were available I'd hit a few of those.

I don't really get the poll options. I mean, regarding the first option, Goose Island is a BMC beer, are you saying that it's not craft? That gets into the whole definition of "what is craft" and whether that word really has any real clear meaning. And in the third option, are you implying that one must always drink beer? Sometimes I drink water, or lemonade, or wine, or a Coke, or coffee, or iced tea, or Scotch. Even if good beer is available.
