Ill be there the next two days, never had their beer. Staying downtown.

I USUALLY spend my time at Hair of the Dog and Bailey's Taproom when I am in town.

Any leads for me? Or for that matter, any other spots I should be checking out?

Also - any leads on where I can watch the football game on thursday night, that would be awesome.

They stopped sending bottles of Pliny back in June, so you won't find any of those. Kegs of PtE and Blind Pig show up every 4 weeks or so, so you can almost always find one (or both) on tap somewhere. Temptation just hit town a couple weeks ago, so bottles of that should be easy to find, and there may still be bottles of Consecration (delivered back in August) lingering at the less-visited bottle shops and/or grocery stores.

As for football, your best bet in the downtown area is probably the Cheerful Bullpen (across from PGE Park) on 18th and Taylor. If you're up for a visit to SE, Claudia's on SE Hawthonre and 30th is always a fun place to catch a game. Lots of TV's, big comfy captain's chairs at the bar, and a solid selection of local beer.

deschutes is also near downtown and has flat screens in the bar. Thursday night game should be on TV.

That new bottle shop/beer bar First National Taphouse is also open downtown near PSU. havent been yet, but heard good reviews so far.

Yardhouse is also up and running downtown. 3476 TVs. doesnt have cool Portland feel to it, but there are a shit ton of taps and TVs.

Check Whole Foods for RR stuff. the one in NE PDX has temptation and consecration. shouldnt be too hard to find either of those. Pliny and Blind Pig wont be found in bottles most likely. Apex and County Cork always have PtE on tap though

Also, Beaumont market in NE Portland is a crazy underrated bottle shop. My new favorite place to score bottles actually

Just as a heads up, there's also an Oregon-Arizona game on that night as well, so I'm sure that will be on a few screens around town too. It doesn't start until 7:30 tho, so not a ton of overlap.

I'll throw Blitz in for a good spot to watch football. I've not been in the Pearl location since I've moved to AK, but have hit the Ladd outpost a few times to watch games when I've been back in town. Probably the best taplist you'll find at a sports bar anywhere. Not the greatest atmosphere, but hey, it's a sports bar.

Another favorite is Spirit of 77.

I see everyone's favorite bar, Apex, has both Blind Pig and Pliny on right now.

Apex isn't downtown, but it isn't far and it's an easy bus ride (just use google maps). Last I saw, they had Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig both on. They keep their tap list posted online, so just keep an eye out there. They have plenty of other awesome beers on (I like Boneyard's Hop Venom more than Pliny) and a ton of Fresh Hop beers. Fair warning: cash only.

Beermonger's is also close to it, and they typically have several Russian River bottles.

    EDIT: Beaten!

DOUBLE EDIT: The larger Blitz is also in that area, which has a ton of TV's. Jolly Roger is walkable from there as well and is easier to watch in peace at, though not the world's best bar.

Horse Brass typically has either Blind Pig or Pliny on tap (they rotate between the two). Also, unlike Apex, they don't charge $8 a pint for it (price was $6.75 for an imperial pint, as I recall).

Also, if you are limited to downtown locations, there's also Henry's Tavern. It's not my favorite place either, but they have a 100 beers on tap (most of it is pretty pedestrian, but they usually have at least a couple different offerings that I can tolerate), and they'll definitely have the game on, probably on every TV in the restaurant/bar.
