Possibly the flavor you're tasting is the house yeast they use.

How is it marketing? Are you talking about blending music with beer? Some of their stuff like fort was made to be the biggest ABV fruit beer but they still tried to make a quality product that was worth purchasing and drinking.

I quite enjoyed my bottle. are you also hating on 60 minute?

I hope Sam finds this thread and shames you all into guilt for being poor advocates of beer. he posted in the 'most overrated brewery' thread awhile back when people were shitting on a lot of the big names in craft beer.

Watch out, here comes Uncle Sam to kick everyone's e-asses!

And you can keep the Fort. That shit was garbage.

So not liking a single beer from a brewery makes one a poor advocate of beer?

I never said it was good, but everybody has a different palate and will like different beers. I think if they pared down the alcohol to about 10-12 percent it would have been pretty good.

have they tried every beer that they make to know that they don't like any of them? I honestly don't care what you or anyone else thinks of them and I'm sure knowing that some people hate on their beers doesn't keep any brewers or owners awake at night. I'm sure they're laughing though, because they get to do something that they're passionate about and get paid for it.

they sound like they're bitching just to bitch though. because they're expanding to meet their demands but some people don't like them so why are so many people buying their stuff that they have a need for more capacity!?!

Wow, why so much hate on a brewery that gets so many people started in craft beer? I don't like everything they make but their motto is "Off centered ales for off centered people" that pretty much sums it up. At least they innovate in a way that doesn't involve barrel aging everything in sight. I for one will be continuing to sample their experiments for better or for worse.

DFH is easily one of my favorite brewers simply because I appreciate Sam's creativity and freedom.

Never in all of my years of drinking craft beer did I think I would EVER see beer advocates, yes, BEER ADVOCATES blindly shitting all over Dogfish Head.

I don't know about some of you but calling a brewery's offerings shit on a forum that is frequented by many in the beer industry, is poor beer advocacy.

You quoted a guy who said he only had one DFH beer he didn't like, and the others were good to above average.

Wow, you didn't care for a beer, so you had to call it shit and garbage. You da man! We need recipes/products from your personal catalogue, so we can finally drink some beer that ain't trash, yo!

The only bad Dogfish beer i've had was my first 75 min experience.. Wayyy too much maple syrup. I have since revisited and it was amazing. Listen folks... hating on dogfish isn't the problem. If they expand and the craft beer bubble bursts thats on them. Its honestly hard to say that 'dogfish sucks' c'mon folks...

The right question, as opposed to haters hating haters being haters.

My answer: I view DFH in the same way as I do Rogue. In my marketplace, and for my taste preferences; DFH beers are overpriced relative to options that I find just as, or more appealing. I'm not going to say their beers are crap. That is silly. But many, I do not care for. The ones that I do enjoy, others make something similar at a more attractive price.

Some people have nothing better to do than hate, so let em'. The universe has its way of taking care of that stuff.

Um comprehension fail. My post you quoted said: "Only really bad beer from them was Ta Henket. All their regular stuff is above average and their ancient ale line is creative and delicious."

Does that sound like 60 minute hate? I have had almost everything they make and enjoyed everything except Ta Henket. WTF is wrong with that?

You guys are special. Short bus special. There are more people in this thread bashing on DFH "haters" than there are actually "haters."

Seriously, only two people in this thread said anything negative about DFH, and I was one of them. The immediate, blind, zealous defense of anything DFH is hilarious to me.

You left out the funniest part of the story: A large percentage of the people were bringing in pieces of wood and, at one point in the night, Sam went out back to where he kept his own stockpile and saw that people were taking from that pile to get free drinks! So hilarious.
