Hey Friends in beer. Just arrived here and wanted to see if I could do a quick check in on what I might find within walking distance of this hotel that is Beer Advocate worry. I have been to Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery, but I think that is a cab ride. May make that happen anyway. Please keep in mind the way frigid temperatures as far as walking distance. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

MacKenzie's is a dive. Good beer though. I like- for happy hour only, 8th St Grill. Good prices on Surly, Summit, Fulton, etc. I'll be there as well so that is what makes it good. LOL

    Within 2 - 3 blocks are:
Butcher & the Boar, 12th & Hennepin (great food and nice taplist).
    McKenzie's, 10th & Hennepin (nice taplist).
Devils Advocate, 10th & Marquette (decent taplist).

Just a heads up, MTHB is currently closed for renovations, but if you still want some of their beers, you can find them @town Hall Tap or Town Hall Lanes.

Right around the corner is Brit's. It gets pretty yuppie this time of day, but only place in town (I think) that has Fuller's stuff on tap. Up Nicollet Mall a block or 2 is The Local, an Irish type place. If food is your thing, try Vincent's (only 2 beers, but top end food and the Chef is a big rugby fan) or Masa which has $2.50 tacos for happy hour (but no great beers).

FYI, the main Town Hall brewery location is closed for renovations for another month.

For less than $10 cab you could go to one of my favorite places, Haute Dish ... top notch food and a great tap list.

Fulton isn't too far of a cab ride either

Also a just a few blocks from the skywalks leading to the Target Center/Target Field. Pretty sure you could do the majority of that walk from St. Thomas to there in 70 degree comfort!

You should consider taking the relatively short cab ride (or bus line) to New Bohemia tomorrow. It is across the river on Hennepin Ave. Their tap list looks like this tomorrow:

The Friday Beer Dabbler Eve Winter Warmup lineup at New Bohemia Pours begin at 7 PM Friday:
    1. Surly Darkness
    2. Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
    3. Deschutes Brewery Abyss
    4. Squatters Outer Darkness
    5. Founders Imperial Stout
    6. Tyranena The Devil Made Me Do It Coffee Imperial Oatmeal Porter
    7. Rush River Nevermore Chocolate Oatmeal Stout
    8. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
    9. New Holland Dragon's Milk

Otherwise, as everyone else is saying, Butcher and the Boar is an excellent choice.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Rocked on over to Devils Advocate. Great tap list, though I had never had Abrasive before and ended up having a few of those in cans. Had the chicken and dumplings - Best Ever! Cheers!!
