Fairly straightforward - I'm curious if you eat while you drink (craft beer). I know people who strictly do not eat while drinking, and others that get the drunk-munchies (like me) (who may or may not be making french fries at the moment).

    Do you drink and eat?

I think it's really fun to play around with beer and food pairings, although the first time I try a beer I always drink it by itself.

I was drinking a CW PM yesterday late afternoon. My wife cooked supper and when it was ready, I set it aside and enjoyed supper with the family. I resumed sipping this awesome beer after dinner. I don't normally drink a beer with meal. However looking at past threads...I'm somewhat tempted to have a craft beer with fried eggs and potatoes in the morning!

It's a pretty interesting question - had never really reflected on my practices before. At first, my reaction was "of course, I eat and drink together all the time" - but that's simply not true.

If I'm drinking really rich, thick, layered imperial stouts, I'm not eating - there is just too much going on in the beer for me to be able to focus on food. I love pairing IPAs with food, though.

It's not to say I WOULDN'T drink an imperial stout with food - I just don't seem to think about it when I'm drinking them. I'm way more likely to be drinking hoppier stuff while cooking, though... and then my beer comes with me to the table.

When I'm out and about I definitely do. At home, usually not so much.

Absolutely. Through the course of the day I went through a 12'er of loose canon and a dog food sized bag of Andy Capps hot fries.

However, I try my best not to drink/eat before trying something new.

They compliment each other. I love a stout with some kind of chocolate dessert. Pizza and a hop bomb, that's all day my friend.

The bulk of my beer these days is "eh" beer - think things that are along the price line of Sierra Nevada or Great Lakes. It's kind of an unwritten rule that if the grill is on, there's a beer in my hand that'll accompany me through the ensuing meal.

Otherwise. the better stuff - things I don't get to buy very often due to price, case laws, etc. - generally gets consumed as a dinner beer.

    Not usually.

I like to drink a good brew after work, but before dinner. Personally, I think wine pairs with food better than beer. But beer is much better on its own, unlike wine.

Cue the "you're wrong, wine tastes like crap" comments...

That. If I'm planning on cooking something a bit fancy I'll think of a beer I've had that might be good with it and go get some. Or wine, if my girlfriend is mad at me. But usually if I'm trying a beer for the first time I'll try not to eat anything until after I'm done.
