BA WWWW was okay, but probably third or fourth in a "meh" el cat round. I wasn't a big fan of DBH2, DBB was great though. As for apple brandy huna, I know for 100% certainty that they made some with the same batch DBH was. However no clue if they bottled it. I was at an event at Proof in Tallahassee where they were serving Apple brandy huna out of a sixtel (florida tap invitational). I did talk to an employee for CCB that does more than tasting room stuff at an undisclosed location during TBBW and she/he kinda chuckled at "all the rumors of having AB huna bottled." (Overly ambiguous because I don't want to get anyone in trouble even though I don't think it would)

Well, they could potential have leftover Apple Brandy Huna as part of the process of making DB Huna. Just like they have left over Brandy Bolita from making DB Bolita. They age it all and then due tastings to figure out the perfect blend of the two barrels. I know batch 1 DB Huna was not a 50/50 blend of rum and apple brandy.

AB Hunah was all blended into DBH save for one keg

Rum Hunah was mostly blended into DBH

the remaining Rum Hunah is sitting flat in kegs now waiting to be used for something else. they didnt put all of it into DBH because it tasted like peppers and peanuts. the idea was they could mask that flavor with the DBH treatment and by using more AB Hunah

the original plan was to bottle AB, Rum, and DBH but they didnt because of the Rum issues

That's interesting, because I heard the rum Huna was actually great before blending it.

At the tasting room today to get Morning Delight and the staff was stealthly tasting pours of "the next El cat beer"

Looks like a stout or porter. Completely black with thin tan head.

Save your time and money. MD might be the biggest letdown beer I've ever tasted. Not worth $10 for a 4oz pour. Not worth the 20 minutes in line.

I'm told this is batch 3 and batch 3 is no where near as good as batch 2 or batch 1

Could have told you that if i caught the post in time. lol. B3 tastes like pennies, and was kinda thin for TG. TBH if MD3 was on a shelf for $60 and Wide Awake was sitting beside it for $20, and I HAD to buy $60 worth of beer and wasn't allowed to trade/sell it, I would buy 3 WAIMs

Only MD I had was b2 and that was also a massive letdown. Pennies galore. Shared it next to Good Morning and 9 of 11 of us much preferred GM.

MD b2 destroyed Good Morning in our tasting when fresh. Just had B3 last month, not getting the pennies thing but definetly just a good coffee stout at this point very little maple left. Never had b3 fresh but was told it never had the maple of b1 or b2.

Really, it was that bad? I had one fresh, thought it was decent, a bit muddled but good. Haven't opened one since. Seems like an odd off taste to get peanuts.

A group of us did a Side by side with DBH and DBH2. 2 out of the three chose the DBH 2 as the better beer. The peppers in the OG had fallen off a bit.

Maybe as of now, We had '13 brandy huna recently and all the adjunct had fell off. But it was incredible when I had it in 15. Personally I preferred DBH1 when I had it a couple years ago to DBH2 fresh.

Edit: But thats beer for ya. Everyone has their preference. Why its so cool.

Did not enjoy it very much. Wasn't just me. My wife did not like it and my brother in law who is far from a beer snob immediately said it tasted and smelled like peanuts. My buddies bottle we opened shortly after release tasted nothing like mine

Roasted peanuts sounds like a delightful element in a beer, very few that actually go for peanuts get that actual effect.

As far as MD, had B2, and it was so Aunt Jemima artificial seeming I didn't even waste my time trying to get a pour of B3 this year. TG are the kings of manufactured rarity. Despite how killer their IPAs are, can't speak to their stouts, as most of them I'll never come within a country mile of. Of those I have had, nearly identical versions are just as easily attainable at the Angry Chair/Coffee Mate taproom.
