Prepare thyself. Extreme Beer Box cometh.

Extreme Beer Box is the evolution of 18 years of BeerAdvocate's Extreme Beer Fest (in-person) and Extreme Beer Fest in Cyberspace (virtual). Simply put, it's a highly-curated box of fun and creative beers from breweries who push the boundaries of brewing and raise a fist at the norm, delivered to your door by our good friends at Half Time Beverage, and enjoyed at your leisure.

    ### WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

Each Extreme Beer Box purchase will include the following:
    • Twelve extreme beers, from twelve brewers, curated by Todd Alström, Founder of BeerAdvocate. (That's me!)
    • A one-year Respect Beer Society membership, which includes saying bye-bye to banner ads, BeerAdvocate gear discounts, and other perks. Already a member? No problem! I'll tack on another year.
    • Access to a private tasting forum with exclusive content.
    • Access to Discord hangouts with participating brewers.
Boxes will start shipping mid-January 2022.

Purchased as a gift? Download and print a gift card.

    ### THE BEERS

For this Extreme Beer Box, I reached out to industry friends who've done our fests in the past, as well as brewers who've recently caught my attention as boundary pushers.
    1. Aardwolf Brewing Co.
      Bananas Foster
      11% | 16oz can
Imperial Stout with lactose, bananas, cinnamon, vanilla, and natural flavors.

    2. Beer Tape
      Heavy, Heavy, Heavy
      14% | 16oz can
Beer Tape (BeerThugLife + Hip Hop Craft) collaboration with Brewjeria Co. and BeerAdvocate. Imperial Stout aged in bourbon whiskey barrels, blended with an Imperial Stout with coconut, vanilla beans, and coffee.

    3. Bolero Snort Brewery
      The PB+J Incident
      6.8% | 16oz can
Peanut butter + jelly donut sour ale conditioned on locally baked donuts, Concord grape puree, and finished with peanut butter and vanilla.

    4. Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
      Utopias Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout
      17.3% | 12oz bottle
The experience of drinking Utopias is often described as ritualistic. Rare and often rumored about in the darkest corners of the beer community, this variety of World Wide Stout is dark, rich, roasty, and complex.

      120 Minute IPA

      18% | 12oz bottle
Too extreme to be called beer? 120 Minute IPA is brewed to a colossal 45-degree plato, boiled for a full two hours while being continuously hopped with high-alpha American hops, then dry-hopped daily in the fermenter for a month and aged for another month on whole-leaf hops! 120 IBUs

    5. Funky Buddha Brewery
      Tropical Sunrise
      11.5% | 12oz bottle
Imperial Cream Ale aged in tequila barrels with orange and pomegranate added.

    6. Great Notion Brewing
      Calf & Half
      12.5% | 16oz can
Blend of barrel-aged and non-barrel-aged Imperial Stout with blueberry and coconut.

    7. Japas Cervejaria
      This is Not a Caipirinha
      8% | 16oz can
Balsamo wood-aged Imperial Sour with Yuzu, Buddha's Hand and Sudachi.

    8. Kane Brewing Co.
      Double Double Cask
      15.7% | 16oz can
A blend of two different Double Barrel-Aged Barleywines. The first Barleywine was aged in a Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey barrel for over 20 months, then finished in a combination of Weller and Blanton Bourbon casks for close to a year. The second Barleywine was first aged in an Armagnac puncheon for close to two year, then finished in a blend of Heaven Hill Rye and Sazerac Rye casks. Each beer was cold-conditioned in stainless, and then blended together to create this Double Barrel-Aged Barleywine.

    9. Modist Brewing Co.
First Call Frappé: Turtle Cheesecake Coffee Lager
      6.5% | 16oz can
Coffee Lager brewed with pilsner malt, malted oats and milk sugar, then conditioned on Wesley Andrews Coffee, cocoa nibs, pecans, caramel and cheesecake.

    10. Mortalis Brewing Co.
      Frosé Hydra Deuce
      7% | 16oz can
This fruited sour is our fourth collaboration with Kings Brewing. It blends blackberry, apricot, sweet cherry, vanilla, cinnamon, and graham cracker together to form just one of this monster’s many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations.

    11. SingleCut Beersmiths
      Continental Riot House
      6.7% | 16oz can
Fruited IPA with passionfruit and starfruit terpenes.

    12. Southern Grist Brewing Co.
      Banana Colada Melted Sno Cone
      4% | 16oz can
Smoothie-style Sour Ale brewed with lactose, banana, pineapple, and cream of coconut.
    ### FAQ / HELP

    Is this a virtual fest?
While there will be online components, this isn't a virtual event. Enjoy the box of beers at your leisure!

How many beers are included in the box?
You'll receive a box with one beer from each of our twelve (12) participating breweries ranging in package format and volume size. Each box should provide sampling for at least two people. Sharing is caring!

Why does this box cost $124.99?
Shipping and handling thousands of boxes of awesome beer isn't cheap. We also pay for all of the beer and whatnot. On top of this, we're dealing with supply chain issues, plus increased costs on basically everything, due to the pandemic.

If you're comparing it to the Extreme Beer Fest in Cyberspace package, there are twelve beers in the Extreme Beer Box (plus a one-year Respect Beer Society membership) versus just ten beers plus a bonus beer in the Cyberspace package.

    Will this box include drinkware?
No, but we do sell BeerAdvocate glassware and we'll be posting a discount code in the private forum for those who want to wait.

Why is the box only available in certain states and zip codes?
Shipping beer in America is whack! Each state has their own laws for shipping beer in and out and as these laws change Half Time will be able to ship to more states. For this box, they can ship to certain zip codes in the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin.

For more info, please visit Half Time.

    When will my box ship?
To ensure the product is as fresh as possible, please be advised that boxes won't ship immediately upon purchase. Boxes will begin shipping mid-January 2022 and arrival times will vary depending on the destination state.

If I live near a Half Time Location, can I pick up my box in person?
Yes! If you’d like to pick up your box in person, you’ll still need to purchase it online. Once your order has been placed, please email beeradvocate@halftimebeverage.com to coordinate your pickup and receive a refund for your shipping costs ($24.99). These refunds will be issued between January 17 and January 21. In your email, be sure to indicate whether you will pick up at the Poughkeepsie or Mamaroneck store. Please note that you MUST email Half Time prior to Monday, January 3.

During the third week in January, you will receive an email notification that your order is ready for pickup. Please do not attempt to pick up your order prior to receiving this email. You will not receive a refund for unclaimed boxes. Please note that once you email Half Time and request an in-store pick-up, you may not change your mind and request to have the box shipped to you.

What if I'm not home when my box gets delivered?
An adult age 21+ must be at the physical address provided when purchasing to receive and sign for the package. Most carriers attempt delivery three times. To contact your carrier, their information is listed on your tracking link provided by Half Time. If your local carrier has informed you that your crate has been "Returned to Sender" or "RTS," it is very likely that it actually hasn't been sent back to Half Time, but stored in at the local carrier's main shipping hub. Please contact beeradvocate@halftimebeverage.com or call Half Time at (845) 462-7899 to help contact your carrier for re-delivery attempts.

What if my box of beers shows up damaged?
Please contact beeradvocate@halftimebeverage.com or call at (845) 462-7899 for assistance.

    Can I get a refund?
All sales are final. No refunds, or partial refunds, will be issued. All breweries advertised have confirmed providing beer for Extreme Beer Box, however, breweries and beers are subject to change without notice. There will be no refunds or exchanges resulting from the failure of any brewery to appear in the box.

How do I sync my BeerAdvocate account and Half Time order?
Instructions to sync your BeerAdvocate account and Half Time order have been sent via email (the one you used to purchase your box). Please check your spam folder.

Do I need to sync to receive the box?

How do I access the private forum?
    You must sync your account.

How do I claim my Respect Beer Society membership?
Your membership will be applied upon syncing your account.

Can I transfer my Respect Beer Society membership?

When will I receive the discount code for purchasing gear?
Details will be posted in the private forum.

    When will Discord hangouts occur?
Updates will be posted in the private forum and on Discord.
