This is the thread for all things Fat Head’s in 2019.

To start, here’s the official release calendar for 2019. Some huge new bottles and cans - the mothership is going to crank out tons of great packaged beers this year!

    Highlights:
    • 15 pack cans of Sunshine and Bumble
    • Year-round Starlight cans
    • 4x JuJu releases in cans
    • Goggle Fogger cans
    • Special Hoperations and Ben Danklin bottles
    • Year round can TBA

So awesome Goggle in cans this year! Lots of goodies. My bet that unknown can is Alpenglo...

I will probably buy a fair amount of Sunshine 15 packs and Juju in cans is awesome. Wonder why they advertise Hop Stalker as draft only? Why not advertise IBUsive and all the others, too? But really, would like to know why they shit-canned Hop Stalker cans

Because Hop Stalker will be widely available in kegs while others will be more sporadic or for certain accounts only.

My only thought is maybe the other TBA can uses wet hops so maybe they just won’t have the volume to do a stalker release. Or they’ve noticed they can sell the ish out of it in kegs and not have to worry about leftover inventory.

Saw this on FB about Special Hoperations (which was already bottled this week and should be out soon!):

"Special Hoperations is our collaboration brew with Barley Brown's Brew Pub. It’s an India Pale Ale, and a portion of sales will he donated to Honor Flight Network, a non-profit organization that transports US Military vets to see the memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends."

For those who don't know, Barley Brown's is a hoppy beer powerhouse from the PNW. Tyler Brown is one of Matt's friends and one of few brewers "in his league" when it comes to hops. Should be a great collab!

    Excited for that one!

So after being to the new facility a few times now, I feel they are definitely still dialing in the new brew system, mostly the pilot one. I have found many of the (hoppier) beers a little astringent and harsher than usual, which surprised me. Not the typical FH quality. Makes sense as it’s only a few months in, but it was clear when we then went to North Olmstead the other day for Juicy JuJu (my god, how perfect that was!), my girlfriend got a few samples of a bunch of other stuff and everything was spot on as usual.

Anybody else notice the same thing or is it just me?

I wonder why they won't can Head Hunter.. any idea? Thought it would make sense since they're doing all the others in cans.

So hyped for juju cans though. Finallyyy!

I've heard they're having a lot of issues with the brew system since they started and have dumped numerous batches of Head Hunter and others because they just aren't coming out right. Not sure how or why though.

Whatever the issue is, that could perhaps be contributing to the astringency and harshness you mentioned.

Special Hoperations is available for sale as of today. Stopped by and picked up a six pack... Will crack into a bottle tomorrow! Can't wait for that Beam Me Up to hit, now.

Fat Heads confirmed on FB "not this year". Matt said something similar a few months back. I think it's a new beer.

    @jampics2

Just saw that on FB... Bummer! Would have loved that (as many other people). Wonder why that beer in particular, being as popular as it is, never has been bottled as a seasonal. I'd think it would sell pretty well as a seasonal, but they have their reasons i'm sure! Look forward to it on tap this year.

It's not a big deal, especially with the crowler maching full go. I just find their business model and decisions curious at times

I heard this new BW might be packaged. Maybe that is it, maybe not; I take anything I'm told there with a grain of salt, even if it comes from Matt first hand

The article from Ohio.com mentions that Matt says it will be an IPA in cans.

A mystery beer is joining the year-round lineup in the spring. The brewery wouldn’t reveal any specifics. “I’ve got to keep it a mystery,” Cole said. But he did let slip a few details: It’s an IPA and it will be available in cans. The mystery beer also is a brand new beer for Fat Head’s and will be competitively priced and not as aggressively hopped as its other brands, Cole said.

Complete speculation, but I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it's won SO many medals and there's something in the yeast that's "proprietary" -or- that it's simply a difficult beer to scale up.

Thanks for starting this thread. That calendar is awesome. Sunshine daydream cans 15 pack is huge. Replaces all situations where you’d buy all day IPA, perfect fridge filler for the summer.

Just had it! Really awesome. Less bitterness and more on the juicy end of the spectrum for a west coast IPA. Very enjoyable. Likely will be buying a second sixer for sure.

I guess if it’s a brand new one I can stop hoping for IBUsive. Can’t explain how happy I am that Starlight is now year round though.

JuJu in cans is phenomenal. One of the best batches I can remember in recent years, honestly.

Surprised people don't seem to talk about this one anymore, considering it's one of the best WC DIPA's available. Oh wait, cause it's not Hazy...
