Lots of peeps don't do official reviews of great places they go for kick-ass beer and food so I wanted to raise the question via forum. Where's your GO-TO place in the city to get a great beer AND food experience if you could only pick one?

Sounds like the OP didn't want to limit to brewpubs, so my answer is Kuma's Corner

Hard to pick one so I'll go with one that is rarely mentioned here even though it has great beer, amazing food, and probably the best burger in the city. Owen and Engine.

Revolution is great but I think my favorite might be Fountainhead. Great beer and amazing food. Some of the best I've ever eaten.

If it's food and beer you're looking for both Au Cheval and Longman & Eagle are tough to beat. Both exceptional, L&E with a Michelin Star and Au Cheval with the best burger I've ever had. 3 Aces is pretty great too and seems to be overlooked by the BA crowd. The menu rotates constantly and I've had some great food there as well.

RevBrew probably has my favorite brewpub food menu.

They do make a killer burger. Good choice.

Haymarket for their Mathias IPA, guest drafts and good food and the "hidden" gem that is The Village Tap.

Visited Revolution for the first time yesterday and thought the food kinda sucked. Anti-Hero is pretty good but I found most of their other beers mediocre.
If I had to pick one place it'd be Hopleaf.

I like Piece for food, I can demolish almost the whole white garlic pizza alone...their beers are decent and Rev is just down the street.

Somehow, someway, I forgot about Piece. They have the best brewpub grub in the city.

Along the same lines as L&E (actually the same owners) - Dusek's. They have food almost on par with L&E and have a better/longer draft list.

Not that you asked for it, but I'm going to throw out my favorite places for beer and vegetarian food:

Revolution: Tofu Revolution sandwich w/ blue cheese potato salad
Haymarket: Vegan Burger w/ brewer's mustard, side of vegan chili
Northdown: Vegan Pork Slaw sandwich w/ fries
Piece: The Plain pizza w/ tomato, red onion and jalapeno
    Hopleaf: C B & J

    Man, I'm friggin' hungry.

As an outsider without any previous favorites, Piece's food blew me away. IMO their beer is among some of the best I have had, and the white pizza is absolutely amazing. The neighborhood is good for people watching too while you wait.

Can't go wrong with Local Option. Food is solid (love the muffaletta sandwich), and the beer list is always fantastic, and rotates often.

Hopleaf, and it's not even close. Au Cheval is too downtown wannabe hipster for me to justify going there when Three Aces in the South Loop usually has a way better taplist and bottles, plus a patio. Fountainhead is great too if you're up north.

The Publican is a must-go if you are looking for stellar food and a very good beer list. It is simply excellent.
