@rscot231 @CerebralBrewing why won't the Librarian be on tap at Cerebral?
We will have it available on tap, sorry for the confusion.
If you're craving hops right now, I believe I counted 5 IPA's at Cerebral last night. Some hazy, some not. Lots of new school hops being used across the board. All the ones we had were good, too. I need to make it down that way more often.
Bull and Bush has The North Old End NE Style IPA on tap
@CerebralBrewing 1 more question: Will you have the other 3 breweries "robot inspired" beers on tap as well?
I was so bummed that I was going to miss out on Robot Librarian, this is literally the only weekend for 2 months that I couldn't go to a beer release. But it looks like Fiction might bail me out on 7/22! Robot Librarian is probably my favorite Colorado IPA and I've been looking forward to it for a while! We even tapped our friends network and struck out, I guess the moral of the story is, July is busy!
Also Alpha Bots and the rest of the robot themed beer variants sound amazing!
Fiction changed it to tomorrow (the 15th). sadface.gif
How much were you trying to get? I'm probably not gonna max out, would be happy to grab and hold some for you.
@rscot231 whats your guess on Robot Librarian lasting? I gotta work.
Well, yield was about 34 cases less than we thought so we are strongly considering lowering the limit to one case. We'll go to 1/2 case if it's super nutzo. Beyond saying that I have zero idea. I'm notoriously bad at predicting this.
Yet, I keep asking...
But you can hold cases for fellow BA'ers right?!?! Haha
Limits officially dropped to one case.
Please drop it to half a case. I just saw 1 guy getting butt hurt on your FB page for dropping the limit from 2 cases to 1 case at the "last minute." I'm a big fan of spite
If anyone can grab me a 4 pack. I have stuff...
Sorry, just saw this. Odd13 is the only brewery that will have all the robot beers on tap. Cheers!
S26 killing it per usual..
Citra IPA and Juicy Banger right meow.. not sure which one I should get a crowler of. Both are so much $$$$$$$
Robot was good but not good like last release this one definitely has a sharpness to it. Don't think it's alcohol but it's not even close to as smooth as last time. Alpha bots Was the best beer I had today and I will not mention the brewery but there robot beer was awful. There were a few of us and all Said the same thing. It was just a really bad. the flavor was just bad not sure what it was but I was not a fan
I bought 2- 4 packs of librarian I'll sell to someone at face value if u didn't get any..
Dude! First IPA release Ive missed.
Happy to take you up on this if you've still got 'em
I haven't had this batch, but like everything from Odd13, you need to give it a couple if weeks. They can and release everything insanely green. Last time you probably got it after it his distro, so it has a bit of time to chill out.
Breweries shouldn't release beers that are green, period, hence why it's called "green." Fail to Odd13 if that's the case.
Completely agree about this batch of RL not being as good as last years (yet). The typical fruit juicy aromas were there but it was incredibly dry and had and bite to it. Definitely seems green to me. The other two people I was with also agreed with the assessment of this beer. As we were talking about this batch of RL there was a guy that overheard our conversation and he chimed in that it definitely needs to sit for about a week. We found out that he is sort of tied into the brewery we were at but not a paid employee. I was planning on waiting a week to open my first can anyway so I'll report back when I do with hopefully better results.
While I do agree with most of the above, I know @rscot231 has stated ITT that they choose to release cans as quickly as possible to let people decide for themselves when they are best/ready. If it is too harsh, you can always sit on it for a few weeks, but you can't take it back in time and make it fresher. Some folks enjoy that ultra fresh hop burn/bite I guess...
Full disclosure: I haven't had the new RL yet
i would've agreed with this 5 years ago but nowadays releasing beers green might be the only way to make sure they are primo by the time they sit in the distributors warehouse, on the retailer's dock, to the retailers shelf and then to the consumer. As @Dan_Inrealife said, the consumer can sit on it a couple weeks but he/she can't make it a couple weeks fresher...
While I do agree with you I think we're just talking about them releasing RL while it was/is still green. This was a taproom only release and will not see distro therefore no warehouses, no docks and no sitting on shelves.
Ahhh. Then, in the words of Emily Litella, "Never mind."
As @Dan_Inreallife said, we like to offer the choose your own adventure in terms of freshness. Some people would drink beer right off the dump port of he fermenter if we would let them, with yeast, hop burn and all. The beer was packaged Friday and has mellowed quite a bit already (I tasted it when I was doing some work at the brewery today).
Some people like it that way though. Pretty narcissistic to think a brewery should release beers that only you approve of. Maybe you can start your own brewery and release beers when you feel it is appropriate. Clearly @rscot231 has his shit together enough to be one of the most hyped breweries in CO right now.
Uhhhhhhh ok? "Clearly" I'm not the only one who thinks this if numerous reviews of the beer state it's green/ harsh/ needs more time.
I get it. You are biased against haze bombs and take advantage of any opportunity to make a dig at the brewers of such beers. It's been pointed out at several points in this thread that the brewer would rather let the drinkers decide how they prefer the beer. There's no need for your criticisms.
Criticism at any angle is important to a business. Cant only listen to the folks patting your backs and ignore the others, doesn't leave much room to get better, which is every brewers main goal.
For what it's worth, I haven't had this beer and love odd13 beer, so im playing devils advocate a bit.
Can't we all just get along. Quote from good ol Rodney king. Drink whatever you like as long as it's micro/local whatever is good.
McGirt aka Head Donkey
Can I still drink Melvin? It isn't actually local.
Of course we're not local but we love Colorado. Melvin breaks all barriers. Wutang is for the children!
I put your haze bros comment together with that and assumed you were just being an asshole.
FWIW I am not a big fan of NEIPA and prefer the beers from Melvin, Comrade etc, but I do think there is a place for experimentation among the style and applaud guys like @rscot231 @Tarheel4985 @dauss @flyone for pushing the style in their own directions. While I have criticisms about every beer I drink, if every brewer aimed to brew a beer everyone liked, we would never get to enjoy beers like Robot Librarian, Superpower, Juicy Bits, Lambda etc.
I forgot to mention we had hit growler USA before heading over to Odd 13. They had Outer Range Rustic Ways on tap and I found it to be quite excellent.
Gonna hit that up soon. Thanks!
I often wonder how many people could pick out some of the beers being called NEIPA's blind. Obviously the visuals are a dead give away and the texture is sometimes, but some of them taste pretty traditional to me.
I'll read reviews about how something supposedly tastes like "straight OJ" and to me it tastes like a thicker Odell or Alesmith IPA. Ditto with some tropical-tasting beers that pour as bright as a pilsner.
