Went by TRVE yesterday to pick up CVLT bottles and had to grab some Scorn based off the info in here (re: removal of Summit hops). I was NOT disappointed! @vitaminvert and @Dan_K and I all agreed that it was fantastic.

I also swung through Comrade on my way home for some growler fills and couldn't pass up a pint of Superpower, which is a perennial favorite of mine. I was a little bummed at the absence of Honeyman V (website has it on as of Jan 10th), but no biggie. @dauss I saw you mentioned last week that Hop Chops was just brewed again... don't go keeping that a secret, I'll have to make the drive up again!

I totally agree - I thought 1-4 were amazing, just was surprised on this one. But again, was after a long night of tasting different beers - so probably my problem not the beers. I'll try again today fresh

Re: Codename Superfan 5.0 drank 4 of these last night and contrary to an earlier post of mine I guess I'm starting to get it. The yeast seems to soften the bitterness, per the can this is an 80 IBU beer that comes across as less than 50. A similar effect occurs in my home brewed Belgian IPAs (with 3522 or 550, usually, so with a much different set of esters and flavors but a similar softening of the bitterness) so I do understand it. And, playing with dry hopping during much earlier stages of active fermentation I've made some beers with persistent haze as well--just not this thick and opaque. And like everybody else I'm on the Citra train, so I'm not averse to that tangerine nose and aftertaste. I do think there's more bitterness perceivable in 5.0 than in the first sixer I bought awhile ago, whatever iteration that was, and that sort of orange-soda raspiness in the throat that is so typical of Citra dry hop is BIG in this one.

As noted I had 4, between maybe 3:30 and 9:30 just chilling at home, watching football, so, you know, crushable. But I'm still more of a west coast IPA man personally.

I think Superfan is solid, and as far as six pack IPAs are concerned, one of the best in Colo. Not quite on Trillium, Tree house in flavor, but a very good unfiltered IPA. I think we'll see a lot more hazy IPAs everywhere later this year and beyond.

As far as great West Coast IPAs goes, an under-the-radar IPA--for outside of the Pac-NW area--is Topcutter from Bale Breaker. Arguably one of THE best 6 pack IPAs I've had. Most of the best IPAs tend to be bombers or brewery only.

Boneyard, Melvin, Barley Brown's, Fieldwork, Kern River, Cellarmaker, Modern Times, Russian River are some pretty darn good West Coast IPA makers.

I'm with Mike and suprised you guys aren't loving 5.0. I think it's by far my favorite of this series and will be a staple in my fridge. I do get the lack of nose on this one, that would be my only complaint.

what's interesting is when I talked to them on Friday they seemed to think it was something random they put together. I asked if they were planning on canning it and they said, not likely, unless it's really popular and I'm like, dang, it's freaking awesome!!!

Long story longer, glad you like it!

Took a few stops but I finally found some more Superfan 5.0 today, stocked up. @eawolff99 if you liked 4.0 better there's still some at Colorado Liquor Mart

I live blocks away from these guys and what's interesting is that an "accidental" crazy hopped rip your face off IPA put them on the map. I can't remember the name now but funny they're doing the awww shucks we dern made us a good IPA schtick again - love those guys - so I'm forgiving :-)

I really enjoyed Citradelic from New Belgium. On the lighter side, but the flavor profile is very similar to Tropicalia. Very "crushable" with loads of citrus, with a malt backbone to add some sweetness. Aftertaste is reminiscent of tangerine peels.

Superpower is one of the best IPAs on the planet. So many times I've had a Pliny side by side with Superpower and am amazed every time how perfect Superpower is. That said, there are hundreds of first class IPA's in California, and in Colorado, there are probably about 20. My issue has never been with the CO IPA's that are available on Tap. I want more options in the store.

I couldn't make it over there this weekend even though I live 10 minutes away. Hopefully I can get there this week. Maybe we can meet up for a beer sometime @Mike1512

4 Noses is such a great brewery. I remember the first time I tried Proboscis - I was so happy to find a progressive style Pale Ale (low malt, hop forward, dank nose) so close to my house, and the fact that they can it is awesome.

I also had Bout Damn Time yesterday while I met a guy for an IP trade. And I agree, it's really good. I myself would still take Probiscus over it as far as their hoppy offerings go, but they are very different beers. I'm impressed every time I go up there. They are putting out good beers consistently.

They stopped making it for a while. I think it's only to make sure all of the old cans finally got off the shelf

For those of you who live near 4 Noses...... Have you been to Nighthawk Brewing yet? I don't live, but work about a mile north of 4 Noses and love it. I haven't ventured to Nighthawk, but the beers they list on their website sound delicious.
