For me, it's Speakeasy's Payback Porter. At $4.99 for a 22 ounce bomber, this beer has notes of chocolate, Sumatra coffee, and to a lesser degree, roasted malts. Easy to drink with no hints of alcohol. Any American Porters at 7.5% and over that you like?

Karbach Hellfighter! and the BA version of course, but the base beer is pretty damn good

I'm guessing no. Victory at Sea is pretty widely available in NY, it was just released in 12 oz bottles.

My answer for this would be Victory at Sea as well along with Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Black Maple (gotta trade for this one), Long Trail Culmination Chocolate Porter, Sixpoint 3 Beans, Jack's Abby BA Framinghammer (and the variants), and Grimm Artisan Ales Cassiopeia.

Can only get it at Russian River, but Shadow of a Doubt, their imperial porter, is ridiculously good.

My answer would mostly be stouts since there's really no difference, especially once you get into imperial territory. Unless it is bottom-fermented, an imperial porter is just an imperial stout by another name.

For beers specifically marketed as porters, my votes go to Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break and Lil B.

Victory's Baltic Thunder is a really nice porter at 8.5%. They also have a version called Red Thunder that's aged in red wine barrels.
