I'd have to say Nugget Nectar. But I'm having some Bear Republic Red Rocket and it's drinking very well this late afternoon. :)

I should be getting NN in my area very soon and looking forward to the 2013 version.

Alesmith Winter Yulesmith comes to mind. I'm not that into red ales, but I'll stumble across one that I like every so often.

The retired Odell Extra Special Red. At least, I could buy that one off the shelf.

Not a huge fan of red ales but Lagunitas Imperial Red was awesome last year.

I love NN, but I wouldn't call it a red ale. Without a doubt then, I have always loved Tocobaga. Going to FL next week for vacation and I'll be going to the brewery specifically to pick up a sixer or two.

I haven't tried many Reds but Terrapin Oak Aged Big Hoppy Monster sure was good!

I always enjoy the release of Conway's Irish red Ale here in Cleveland, very enjoyable, and outstanding on tap.....

With the caveat that I have yet to try Troeg's Nugget Nectar, Cigar City's Tocobaga, or Bitterbill's Odell nomination.

2 Brothers Revelry was very good, but I'd actually go with Pipeworks Blood of the Unicorn. That imperial red had all the DIPA character tucked into the red category.

I personally put Nugget Nectar in the IPA/DIPA category, reguardless of what they like to call it..

Troegs Hopback, Mt. Carmel Amber, Lagunitas Censored, and Red Seal are great, but more in the amber category..

Revelry is really good.. if the booze was a little less noticeable in the aromas and flavors, it would be a homerun, IMO..

Cambridge Brewing's Red God is a good big/impy red.

For less brawny versions, I like Mayflower Spring Hop (a seasonal, alas) and Maine Beer Co. Zoe.

That is darn good but the old Extra Special Red...hey, wait a tic, I see I scored the Red, 6.5%abv, a tad higher than the ESR, 8.00 abv. The lower abv gives the Red the win.

Is Lagunitas Lucky 13 considered a Red ale? If so that is my favorite.

Troegs Hopback all day, every day
Meantime Yakima Red over that when I can get it.

This is a rye pale ale, like the name says.
