A lot of craft beers these days clock in at the higher end of the ABV range. What are your favorite sessionable beers? The only session IPA I've tried, All Day IPA, I didn't like. Pilsners all taste pretty much the same to me. I guess what I mean is just what are some unique, interesting low ABV beers I could drink all night with some friends? Preferably stuff thats a bit more widely available, or maybe a style (like Gose). Got this idea after seeing a bottle of 2.9% ABV Jester King Le Petit Prince Farmhouse Table Beer at the store. It's $8 for a 750 ml though, which doesn't strike me as very sessionable.

Session beer has been my in my fridge constantly for the last year as regular drinkers. Stone Go To IPA, Shorts MMMKAY/Prolonged Enjoyment(others in the mixed packs too), New Holland Full Circle Kolsch, Lagunitas Daytime, Founders All Day, Griffin Claw Gateway/Screamin Pumpkin, Odd Side Simcoe Sensation/Bean Flicker, Sierra Nevada Kellerweis, Fat Heads Sunshine Daydream, Dogfish Head Namaste, Weihenstephaner Original Helles/Pilsener. There are a ton of awesome examples of sessionable beers out there; but if you don't appreciate the styles, you aren't going to like them.

I saw DayTime at the store the other day, maybe I need to give more session IPAs a shot, as IPAs are my favorite style. I also like hefes, saisons, etc. But don't really like lower ABV stouts/porters all that much. I think most lower ABV beers taste too light and watery for me. Maybe there's no hope. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I mean, is it really too much to ask for a beer that tastes like Heady or Pliny but has half the ABV?

Ya, it actually is, because the alcohol and resulting byproducts are a huge part of why those beers taste the way that they do. Alcohol is crucially important to beer flavor. 4% beers will never taste like 8% beers. I think a lot of people are missing that point when criticizing the "session IPA" trend for not tasting like 7% IPAs.

Hefeweizens are my go-to session beers, Specifically Sierra Nevada Kellerweis and Franziskaner. Oh, and I've recently got in to Anderson Valley and Westbrook Gose!

Full Sail Session Lager is my answer, but YMMV.

I'm surprised that these brews haven't been mentioned yet. Jarl and Citra Session. Both are great IMO, check them out OP.

Bitter American is my go-to session 90% of the time. I just wish the price reflected the lower ABV.

Agree 100% here. I used to brew a dark mild (floor-malted Maris Otter and EKG) that came in at 3.2% ABV. That style -- and that beer -- is one of my favorites, but many people who tried it suggested that I bump up the grain bill to boost the flavor. I said if I do that, I'd be brewing a brown ale and not a mild.

Session beers pack a lot of flavor, but in subtle degrees. If you don't like subtlety, that's OK. But don't expect a 3-4% beer to taste like a 7-9% Imperial-whatever.

If it were available to me, I would drink ALOT of Surly Bitter Brewer, an underrated style and that is a good one.

Since it isn't, I find myself when I want to session something alternating between Oarsman, All Day and Griffin Claw Bohemian Pils.
