Well she is not 'here' to defend herself so, yeah, let's go with that!!

    Cheers!

P.S. We recently go back from a long hike at Valley Forge Park (Mt. Misery & Mt. Joy hiking trail). When we got home I was doing stuff around the house and I turn around and she is sitting on the couch drinking a homebrewed Sticke Alt so....

Also, I will tag you on a beer discussion in tomorrow's New Beer Sunday thread re: OMB.

Thanks for the info! It helps ...

I wasn't sure if it's just me in general or if it's been how my palette is set up each particular session. With Bitburger, I generally just crack open that tallboy, pour and drink -- I rarely drink a bunch of water first, then eat some unsalted peanuts and drink more water to prepare my palette for its German-brewed goodness.

And like I say, I *always* enjoy it. But I'll pay closer attention to dates to help me time my purchasing of it.

I can't comment for the entire US but I get Jever in my area (Southeastern PA) but more often then not it is old. I will buy Jever when it is relatively fresh (e.g., less than 6 months old) but those instances are rare.

Are you always (or frequently) able to buy fresh Jever? If so, how fresh is it?

    Cheers!

In Ontario, you can often find it fairly fresh. The LCBO - the government run liquor stores - bring in 500ml cans at $2.30/can (so, like $1.65 US right now). If you happen by a store that has just received some, it can be pretty fresh (2-3 months). When I have had it fresh, I have really enjoyed it.

One of the rare great things about the LCBO, is that all imported beer for the province goes through it. This means it has pretty huge buying power, and that is reflected in some great pricing on well regarded German and Belgian imports. (For example, bottles of Rochefort 8, almost always available, is $3.60 right now ($2.60 US). Unfortunately, that is really the only good thing about it...

The best before dates are 15 months after bottling/canning (not one year), so the current batch at the LCBO which says 09/02/17 are already 3 months old.

Based on the list my go-to would probably be Jever, followed by Pivo Pils and Nooner, each quite different from the others.

    My actual go-to is Notch.

Troegs Sunshine Pils is a favorite of mine as well but its only available seasonally and thus disqualified from the big go-to sweepstakes.

Rothaus would get my vote... But of beers on the list I went with Jever. Criminally underrated perhaps due to the green bottles and its difficulty to find fresh

I answered Prima, but Reality Czech from Moonlight is my favorite Pils. Its distribution is so limited that there doesn't seem to be any point in listing it as my favorite.

Edit: Sorry, I misread the thread title. Pivo is my go to Pils. I like Prima better, but Pivo is usually fresher in NorCal.

Same issue as BSW, above: Pivo is my absolute fave, but it's not available where I live, and by the time I get it, it has fallen off significantly. Pilsner Urquell, on the other hand, gets my vote because it is readily available, and in a can seems to hold up very well. I will definitely skip the green bottles, though (I hear they're putting them in brown now - took them long enough). Sunshine gets honorable mention but it's only available for a while. Nooner gets honorable mention for the opposite reason - for one so widely and regularly available, it is great.

Can not believe I didn't see GLBC The Wright Pils in the selection. That is my top pick, with Pilsner Urquell at a very close second & Nooner in 3rd. Honorable mention to Fat Head's Jack Straw.
