    Hello Beer-friends,

I'm about 3 hours from Three Floyds, but like making the trip when my buds are in town. Last get together I was fortunate enough to get a case of Zombie Dust the day before we drank it. Needless to say, it was the closest thing to having it on tap in regards to freshness. My question is, being that production has become a little more sporadic recently, how long would be too long for a case to sit before consuming? Anyone think something like 2 weeks from pickup would make a noticeable difference in freshness/taste?

    Cheers!

It wont last too long at the brewery, so i wouldnt worry about freshness unless youre trading and the shipping time could get you near the 2-4 week worry area.

Thanks for the response. I was afraid this would spark the whole case controversy, nice to see the first response was on target! Normally I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm afraid if I dont get a case for us this upcoming week when they might have more, I won't get my hands on it in enough time.

While you might get some ade in the hops, it will still be tremendous for at least 2 months.

Indeed my friend. I think a lot of beers get overhyped @ FFF...but ZD is on par with very few. In a league of its own...which is why I fret over 2 weeks affecting freshness! lol

I had one last night that I have had in my house for almost 2 months.
Have the hops faded? I am sure they have. But it is still killer.

My God. I was at Three Floyds on Saturday and again Sunday and they had cases of Zombie Dust piled high and if you listened closely you could hear the hops fading. It was awful!!

Absolutely the right answer. I had a 2 month old one that was still great and then had a 3 month old one that was a shell of its former self. 2-3 months is when it dies so don't sit on it longer than that

I drank a case over the span of ~2 months and there was not really much noticeable difference.

Personally I think there is a big drop off after about a month. A slight sweetness definitely starts to overtake the biting hop-taste a bit.

I'll gladly drink it, but anything over a month has nothing on fresh ZD.

I don't think i've ever seen a bottling date on FFF. Either way, i've picked up sixers of Alpha King in some odd places in Indiana. They all tasted the same. (Damn Good)

I agree. First 2-3 weeks are amazing. After a month its still great, but not quite the same.
