Hey, searched and couldn't find anything on this! I have a case of the limited run of bombers (22oz) they bottled on the new machinery. The label now says "red wheat and our proprietary hops". I have always associated amarillo hops with GH, is this just a one off, or is it a change-up in hops?

Zombie Dust tastes off right now so it wouldn't surprise me if something is up with Gumballhead as well.

No we didn't change the hops in GBH or ZD. If you think a beer tastes wrong contact us through the website and we will work to evaluate it and replace it if necessary.

"It can't possibly be my palate! Must be the brewery changed the recipe!" says some beer geek virtually every day.

I have had Zombie Dust on many occasions the past few years and I never really noticed any variance, aside from age... It doesn't age well, but any fresh bottle I have had has been stunning.

I picked up a 6 pack to bring back to Minnesota with me and it was labeled the first week of November, can't remember the exact date. I didn't try the bombers but Gumballhead on tap last week was fantastic. It seemed better than when I stopped last spring but that might just be me.

2nd this - I just drank a fresh ZD bomber yesterday - it was as delicious as usual.

So why the change of wording on the label, from Amarillo hops to proprietary hops....just curious not trying to sound like a dick

Any way you could find be out and post? Echoing the above, inquiring beer geeks want to know. There has to be a reason for that kind of label change. Probably something stupid like the TTB not allowing "Amarillo" on the label because it wasn't from Texas. But we're still curious.

    Technically, Amarillo are proprietary hops.

The bomber run was a last minute special one off. I'm sure when the labels were getting made our GD guy just threw that in from text from another beer. No conspiracy or anything.

The brewery burned down when he/she didn't mention Amarillo. LOL

Only time I have noticed any difference over the past few years is when I stumbled across a little store that had some that tasted about 8 months old!

I fully disagree with 2 things above. I have had the latest batch of bombers released and it tastes as great as ever! Also, I think it ages a whole lot better than other CPAs I've had... Of course CPAs and regular pales are not meant to age, but I think ZD holds up well if you have to hold it for a bit.
