I haven't been following BA too closely lately, so perhaps I just missed the buzz. But I've been really pleased with all of the Fieldwork beers I've had over the past year or so, and I haven't seen much other than offhand mentions. They seem to do delicious hoppy beers, mainly, but I did also just enjoy a 'Salted Coconut' stout on nitro.

    Let's all appreciate them.

Fieldwork makes some great beers! Expanding to Sacramento and Napa in the near future.

I just hate parking there when there are soccer tournaments. :stuck_out_tongue:

4 locations in a little over a year is kind of crazy.

For being a reasonably new brewery they've done a great job at area distribution, as well as generating a wide variety of quality beers in a short time.

AFAIK brewing will continue to only be at the Berkeley location. Everything else is just a satellite tasting room.

Stoked to have this spot nearby my place of work. Always love their selection of unique beers and the idea of brewery led hikes. Has anyone ever participated in one of their hikes?

Can't wait to head here and Rare Barrel next week when I'm in San Francisco. Are there any quality beer bars with a solid food selection in the vicinity? Also I'll have some Trillium in tow if anyone wants to share or swap a bottle or two.

I am really excited for when Fieldwork opens up the new Tap Room in Sacramento. They are knocking it out of the park right now.

The way they rotate the small batches, damn it is almost tough to keep up with all the different good beer they are making.....haha.....

Alex Tweet probably did more creating of great Beers when he was at Modern Times. Talk about a great resume.

Good article here on his tenure at Modern Times and Ballast Point. http://beergraphs.com/bg/735-fieldwork-brewings-alex-tweet-on-beer/

Stopped in on Saturday and they have some damn good beers! Coconut DIPA was insane, their regular Dipa "Monsoon" was really good too. Grabbed a few crowlers for the trip back to SD. Awesome spot!

Fieldwork is my favorite brewery in the Bay Area right now, and it's not even close. They excel at so many different styles. I try to make it up there every couple months to try some of their new stuff or repeats like Coconut Milk DIPA. I do agree that their local distribution is great, as many of the south bay's craft beer bars have at least one Fieldwork beer on tap.

I haven't been to the brewery yet, but have had them at craft beer bars and beer festivals. I had high hopes for them, but have been hit and misses. One great beer (Coconut Milk) and some average IPAs. Frankly, I think Faction makes better IPAs and Cellarmaker is a tier above.

Still, I plan to hit them up before the end of the year.

have you tried galaxy juice or saint thomas? I've had a lot of mediocre IPAs from them but I think those two are pretty outstanding.

I've had a few average IPAs from them, but most have been damn solid to borderline great. That said, my favorite beer of theirs is Chocolate Milk...anytime I see that on nitro, I'm good to hit said venue for a pint.

Are they in Tier 1 with Cellarmaker, not quite yet. But I see them likely closing the gap in the next 1-2 years. As for Faction, I've loved most of their APAs but have been less than impressed with most of their IPAs I've come across. Finally a caveat, the only one of the three I've had at the source is Cellarmaker.

Really enjoyed Galaxy Juice this weekend at City Beer. After visiting Cellarmaker earlier, it held its own with some of their best. Decided to check out the brewery the next day and unfortunately they had ran out. Hazy Train was my favorite out what was on tap.

For the first time I bought some crowlers to take home.
I wonder what more San Diego breweries haven't adopted crowlers. For a dollar, I prefer it over having to purchase a growler for $10 (or sometimes more) and deal with everyone's different policies. I have too many growlers as it is.

Fieldwork's new Sacramento Tap Room is only days away from opening, just waiting on some final city government inspections. They just posted that they sent the kegs on the short drive from Berkeley to Sac.

lots of new pics here: https://www.instagram.com/fieldwork_sacramento/

This appears to be their most opaque NEIPA beer yet:

Might have to make a quick stop at the brewery tonight!

Calling it NE-style simply based on appearance is a bit of 'cart before the horse' IMHO. Without knowing the mouthfeel, I'd simply say it's an unfiltered IPA unless I'd tasted it. What's the beer's name? If it's Hazy Train I'd say the hazy naming is due to its dankness rather than being NE-style. My $0.02
