That's worse than I had hoped for.

I guess we Houstonians know what we are going to drink for NYE. lol

Shafted as usual but at least we are getting it. I guess Houston is not hipster enough.

And I hope it stays that way. We don't need anymore hipsters

I'm just glad that we are getting it. Yeah it sucks we have to wait until closer to the end of the year but at least we are finally getting distribution.

I'm hoping for kegs to make it before bottles. Would like some FW in a growler or 2 for deer season.

Fuck. If hipsters bring founders, firestone, and ballast, I hope they all move here.

If hipsters are what bring the beer, then how come DFW seems to be the market entry point for so many breweries? I wasn't aware the Ed Hardy-wearing 30k millionaire crowd enjoyed craft beer as much as they do Grey Goose, Patron, and Jaeger...

I'm actually pretty sure that Dallas-only breweries' first impression of Texas is this:

    :)

Not sure what happened but Petrol tweeted this:

    Uncle Hoppy@Petrol_Station
So Houston got shafted by Firestone walker, but southern tier and founders are headin this way soon. We love beer

    Anyone have info?

FW is coming to Dallas/Austin markets in a month or so. Houston not until the end of the year. It's apparently the hot new thing to do... Founders may do the same...

I talked to someone on Thursday that said they spoke to their distributor just a few hours earlier that same day and he said it will be on draft first around late February to early March and then bottles will start popping up around May or June.

After lookin' at their Twitter feed... it looks like a lot of people have been asking that and they're starting to get annoyed.

Basically "Texas is a big state... it'll get there when it gets there" [paraphrasing]

I think the biggest thing is that they went with distributors they had an existing relationship with (from what I've heard) that do not exist in Houston (Andrews and Brown)

Does Corpus use one of those 2 distributors?

Seems odd that FW has only worked with distributors that work everywhere but Houston.

Didn't Ballast Point do the same thing? Skip Houston and go to Corpus.

It's because Andrews covers both DFW and Corpus.

There will be two "Teams" doing the F/W coming out parties all over town next week. The Saucer, Red's Porch, Draught House, Chicago House and maybe Black Sheep Lodge.

Next month the market will be "teased" with limited drops of bombers at select retailers. April should see the full rollout.

I, for one, am very excited.

We didn't really talk about specific offerings but I got the impression that most of them will be sent to our market, if in limited numbers, of course,

Whoa... lots of Label Approvals rolled in today for FSW...

Firestone Walker XVI Anniversary Ale (!!) [I gotta imagine tap-only, since this has been out for a while now, unless they stockpiled some for us]
    Firestone Walker 805
    Firestone Walker Double Jack IPA
    Firestone Walker Parabola (!!)
    Firestone Walker Sucaba Barleywine (!!)
Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin Oatmeal Stout
    Firestone Walker Walker's Reserve Porter
Firestone Walker Wookey Jack Black IPA

All are approved for applicable bottle sizes and kegs... except Velvet Merkin, which is keg-only [I don't even think they bottle this yet])... and 805, which is bottle-only.

Also, I thought 805 was a local-only release to Cali? Might be wrong on that.

That's a different beer... this is Velvet Merkin, which, IIRC, is the BA version of Velvet Merlin

Oh damn, it really said Velvet Merkin? And not Merlin. FW must like Texas.

Velvet Merlin is absolutely fantastic. I'm disappointed not to see it on that list (prefer it to the boozed up version)

I hope Firestone makes it down to the San Marcos Gabriel's like Ballast Point did.
