Really? Surly could have brought Darkness. Russian River was a hit along with 50/50 and Alpine. Then again, you liked BA Darklord if I'm not mistaken...

I meant given the lineup. And I did like BA Darklord, it doesn't really change my point, which was that you knew going in that it was either CCB or FFF. We obviously don't know the runner up, but if it wasn't FFF I'd be shocked. I'd also be shocked if anyone else was even close to those 2.

It's funny, people always complain about how BA is obsessed with rarity, but I think the people who are into beer but not really BA-level are actually way, way worse about it. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Thank god we had people there whose palette was at an "BA-level'

It's funny how people always complain how people on beer advocate are such a snobs.

BA-Level as in "I traded my cellar for BA Darklord, so I'm ashamed to admit that it's an awful mess of a beer"?

BA is obsessed with rarity. That's a fact and you are proof. BA Darklord was one of the worst beers poured unless you are drinking the hype juice and thinking that everything FFF makes is gift from the gods or you like mixing your stouts with a cup of sweet n low. Maybe you are jaded or maybe you are afraid to admit a bad beer when you taste one in fear of shaming from the Midwest guys. Which is it?

Beers that were better than BA Darklord in no particular order: BA Huna, BART on Brandy, 2009 Rittenhouse Eclipse, Iced BART, Sierra Nevada's Maple Stout, Schizophrenia, Raspberry Wild Ones, Nefarious, Keen Idea, Hoppy Birthday, From Dusk til Dawn, Pivo Pils, etc.

Huh? Believe me, I'd want nothing more than for BADL to be terrible, I generally dislike FFF and think they get entirely too much love. Zombie Dust is mediocre, their IPAs are awful, and regular Dark Lord is a ridiculous mess of a beer. Let's not even get into their other barrel-aged stuff, I think Bully Guppy probably isn't actually food-safe because of the ridiculous levels of acetone. But BA Dark Lord? I like it, I think it's a good beer. Is it in my top 10 all-time? No, but it's still really good.

Also, I thought the Maple Stout was forgettable, Schizophrenia was garbage, Wild One was okay but nothing special, and BA Hunah was the definition of mediocre, it wasn't flavorless but it was close. It's almost like people can have different tastes!

Anyone else get to try Sun King's Mai Pappy? It was superb.

Weird, I thought you said our tastes were based off BA-Level? In that case, you must be higher than me because of your karma points. The problem is that you probably like cat food over fresh ahi, so I never want to be on your level.

Anyways, at least we can agree that regular Darklord sucks. You live in NorCal? We should bottle share and talk shit to eachother when I move back.
