Brewing my first batch tonight (a few years ago I helped a roomate do 2 or 3 batches but he was the one in the drivers seat). Wanted to see what you guys thought about the recipe I'm attempting. Got this recipe from somewhere online, they didn't have any Biscuit Malt so I substituted Victory per recommendation of store clerk. Wanted to do a kinda hoppy Pale ale, something similar to Sierra Nevada PA. Any Thoughts/Suggestions/Comment? Thanks. 1# Crystal 20L, 8 oz Victory Malt 3.3# Light LME, 3# Light DME ¾ oz Chinook pellets (9.8 AAU) for full hour. 3/4 oz Centennial pellets (7.5 AAU) for last 25 min of boil. ½ tsp Irish moss last 15 min of boil. 1 oz Centennial pellets (10 AAU) forr last 15 min of boil. 1 oz Cascade pellets (8 AAU) aroma hop for last 15 min of boil. Wyeast 1056
This doesn't look too bad at all. I would lose the victory malt as it needs to be mashed and move your 15 minute additions to flame-out if you want hop aroma.
