More to the point, where will you be staying? We can recommend some places close to your hotel so you don't have to worry about driving after your drinking. Stay safe. Then, of course, there's always Uber or transit.

 

Holy Mountain should be number one on your list IMO. After that, Fremont, Reuben's just about anything on the list posted by Distantmantra. You really can't go wrong. Have a good time and post back what you end up doing.

Still, a week? One would think that a good customer could get a better response.

A city the size of Seattle? With as many bars, breweries, restaurants, stores, and other outlets that heavily rely on HVAC components, that there wasn't a piece on a shelf, somewhere between Salem and Blaine, that could have been delivered in hours, or at least overnight?

More to the story. Shit, Amazon coulda dropped the stuff overnight.

I was surprised as well, they've got a few time sensitive fresh hop kegs just languishing while it doesn't get fixed.

I reached out to BW on Instagram and asked about it, they said they'll be fixed by tomorrow at the latest.

I don't really want to speak for them too much but I don't think it's as easy as that. First you have to figure out if it can be fixed then you need to get a few bide because you probably aren't replacing that yourself. They've been there for a while so maybe it's older equipment and something of the shelf might not fit easily. It sucks for them and for their customers but it's not as simple as ordering something on Amazon.

They've been doing no corkage on cans and bottles while it's down which is a great deal with their inventory.

 

Sure, but, it ain't rocket surgery. I'd be surprised if they don't have a regular HVAC company they deal with. A good, long time customer should be getting better service. Again, it's only 270 miles from the Oregon border to the Canadian border. There are plenty of old businesses in that corridor. Parts aren't really that unique. Even if the right part was only in Key West, Fedex/UPS would have it here 2nd day, latest. Something is off here.

I work for a company that specializes in residential HVAC. However, many of our customers have wine cellars with dedicated refrigeration systems, so I can hypothesize about the situation.

I don’t know much about beer draft systems, but I’ll assume that the compressor in question is part of the system responsible for refrigerating the kegs of beer.

If I find a failed compressor in Seattle, best case scenario is that a suitable replacement is available somewhere within a 30 mile radius. Depending on how close it is, and the urgency of the situation, the compressor could theoretically be replaced the same day. It can take around 8 hours of labor to replace a compressor and it’s ancillary electrical components.

Worst case scenario, their equipment is old and uses a refrigerant that has been phased out due to being ozone depleting. Or maybe it has more issues than just the compressor. Compressors rarely die a natural death. That might necessitate replacing essentially the entire refrigeration system, which in this case is probably a walk-in refrigerator of some type. Doing major work like that requires permits to be approved by the City of Seattle, which can take considerable time.

Still, the draft beer system seems pretty critical to a business like Bottleworks, and one would think that the equipment would be repaired or replaced as quickly as possible.

 

Any newish places in Bellevue to check out? I thought there was a place in Bellevue Square opening, but I can't find it now. I've always enjoyed the old dive of the Pumphouse for some reason as the Embassy Suites will drop me off there.
