I would not count the Cottonwood brands as being Foothills. Yes Foothills brew it now although I would like to hear from the brewery the changes to that brand before I purchase it. I don't think the Cottonwood "brand" has enough following to continue it. I always thought once Cottonwood left Boone it should have been discontiuned. Why not just re-brand the Frostbite as a Foothills beer????

I'm not sure I agree with you there. Obviously Don at Cottonwood deserves the credit for introducing those styles, but they were not introduced to a mass audience until Carolina Beer Company started brewing them. I still think those beers -- and of course Carolina Blonde -- have a pretty decent following, so I think it makes sense for Foothills to continue brewing them. Those who buy the brand likely don't care who brews it, and those who would care who brews it -- see us beer geeks -- are probably actually more likely to buy those brands now that they're brewed by Foothills, a respected brewery we all know well.

I don't drink a lot of browns, but I think Low Down Brown is a good example of the style. The Cottonwood pumpkin ale is one of my favorites when fall rolls around.
