Made a trip to Cantillon with the wife on my day of from work. It was pretty easy to find and I was lucky enough to get a parking spot only 50M across the road from brewery. We went through the brewery and I explained everything to the wife (I have done a paid tour of the brewery before) and she was pretty excited to get to see everything. This made me pumped as that meant I could bring her back and wouldn't have to hear about dragging her to a brewery on my few and far between days off.

She's expecting in a few months which meant I got to taste one more beer than normal, another plus. I purchased a few bottles but didn't get greedy because it looked like I would be back in the not to distant future. Well that all changed quick. When I walked out the door of the brewery I noticed someone standing by my car. No big deal, people walk up and down the street all the time. So I picked up the pace a little bit and when I got on the other side of the road (about 30M back), I noticed that the guy had his hand on my door handle and was trying to get in my car. He wasn't picking the lock or anything, just pulling on the rear handle and then the front door handle. I gave a quick, "hey" and he jogged off.

This spooked my wife and she wanted to get out of there as quick as possible. On the way home, she mentioned that after that she didn't want to go back down there. Isn't a huge deal, but it means it will be a little more difficult for myself to convince her I should go back to enjoy it myself. It sucks because everything was looking so promising for future visits.

No different than any other place. If you drive there, just make sure to lock your doors. Maybe they saw a foreign plate and wanted to test it, I don't know.

Might have to try and pull some favors now just to get beer from there now which sucks.

Had some German friends over and we went to Gent for the day. Parked in an underground paying parking garage and got the back window smashed and some luggage stolen. They had a German rental as well.

It doesn't matter what type of car you're driving, it's a neighbourhood with more criminality than other parts in Belgium.

I've been living in Brussel for years, Brussel is a city who has the problems that always come with urbanisation, nothing special. Some parts of Brussels are dangerous, other parts are safe. But Anderlecht isn't a safe one, some of you will maybe remember the hold-up at Cantillon, 9years a go?

Some Canadian friends of mine were today at Cantillon, it seems that some rules has been changed.

They had to buy 6bottles Geuze if they wanted to buy the LPF and FF and the limits were not pp but per 'group'. He came with his wife, and they were not allowed to buy 3FF and 3LPF each, but only 3FF and 3LPF together.

An interesting change from just a few days ago.

Maybe the Fou batch isn't as big as past years and they are trying to use it to increase the sales of other "regular" beers. I am not sure though. I can't call myself a Cantillon expert by any means.

Last tuesday their stock of FF was much much much higher than LPF, so maybe they did it for the LPF?

Anyway, I think this is a good rule.

Maybe they were trying to cut down on 'muling'

They didn't make my friend buy gueuze to get FF/LPF I did buy 3 cases of beer though. The couple in front of us got turned away in the 6/6 purchase. The guy there said the coupes rule makes them ineligible. He called out the guy in front of him had his wife and mom muling bottles since they were in a "group" but were all allowed to get FF/LPF limits.

There is a good bit of FF left, they had a palate of pre boxes of 3 FF/LPF.

Try for parking the Q park at the railwaystation at Brussels midi... ok its a 5-10 minutes walk but its a lock down parking and its safer than parking in the street ... around 4-5€ a hour...

I had no issues with my wife and I buying bottles. We were there at the end of Friday. Paid for all 12 on my credit card. Their beer so they make the rules I guess. The "couples rule" only works if your wife hates fou foune...who hates fou?

For those of you in need of more of either the delirium shop in the city was selling bottles at 25 Euro. Brutal but I'm sure someone reading this will buy it.

Jean-Pierre seemed to be bothered that everyone was just buying FF/LPF boxes. Pretty much everyone in the line of 10 bought just FF/LPF. One other guy and I got other stuff, I love their gueze almost as much as any other beer. I also wish I could had a mule with me so I could have gotten a box of Kriek and then some more gueuze and Iris. I can't wait till they get more bottles of production so I'm not limited to 3 boxes every time I make the 4 hour trip.

As a warning to people driving, park clear of the door to Cantillon. Some dumb bitch decided to use her taxi door as a battering ram against the side of my car. Idiot didn't even stop. Just walked into the building like nothing happened. Making a scene would have done nothing. Left with a golf ball sized dent and 3 bottles of Fou to drown my frustration.

I think you will be fine, especially if you explain you are on a train. When I went in Saturday they seemed to be looking at people skeptically. I asked for 3 37.5ml kriek and then asked for the other 3/3. Mean didn't bat an eye. Don't let the perception be that you are there to buy just those beers and leave. If you sit and drink some beers first and then buy I think you would be fine as well.

Not in Brussels. We just had a major strike by the cab drivers protesting against Uber. There has been accidents here with cab drivers luring Uber drivers and menacing them.... Stuck up people

Uber pretty works in Brussels, but it's forbidden and cops are actively looking for illegal taxi's.

October 9th, there will be big strikes in Belgium, travelling by train won't be an option.

During the Zwanze-weekend, we used Uber all the time in Brussels. No problems at all. But we heard there were a lot of people (taxi drivers?) that was very much against it

Can anyone that is highly knowledgeable on Cantillon weekly sales confirm whether they tend to change their limits on whats for sale over the weekends? Like do they ever reduce their for sale limits because of Saturdays being busier? (example: weekdays- 3 Fou PP, then weekend- 1 PP) @mathieu87 you seem to be in the know on most things Cantillon, would you know whether they do this ever or regularly?

I don't think they generally do. my most recent Saturday (which granted was 12 months ago) the limits were exactly as had been posted leading up to then. granted they had Fou at 6 pp for like 3 months last year so there really was no need to. LP Framboise, though, I remember went very fast last year, like a week or two, but I think it was 3 pp the whole time

still their bottles last way, way longer than for instance when HF puts out a limited bottle and it's gone in 3 days at 1 per person

    @newbeeraday
Usually they don't. The main reasons to lower limits:
    - there's still plenty of beer, but they ran out of labeled bottles... normally they just stop selling the beer at that point
    - the beer is almost gone, and they want it to last a little longer

However, if they tend to notice on - mainly - saturdays, that one family/group/couple after another comes in to buy eg 3FF and 3LPF, they might change it to:
    - allotment of bottles is per group/couple, instead of pp
    - you have to buy 6 bottles of geuze in order to buy the more special stuff

Both releases on the FF and LPF this year were rather small, so I don't think they'll last months (as FF did last year).

Were you guys sitting in the front corner buy the bottling line? Pretty sure my wife and I were one table over from you! It was super nice of JVR to bring that around. I love the fresh raspberries in that sample, delicious!

As for limits, we went on Monday and Tuesday (bought all of our beer on Monday). We had no problem buying 3xFF and 3xLPF each, no mention of the 'couples' rule. We did purchase a few shirts, glasses, etc., to bring back as gifts though. Went back Tuesday to drink more onsite and I noticed a few couples doing the same thing with no issue (w/o buying anything extra)

If i knew you were a BA we could share a extra bottle there ... next time

Don't think there was a problem for buying bottles... the couple with me bought some but i didn't..

No issues here either. I bought some other stuff in addition to the LPF and FF yesterday, but my wife just bought 3 x FF with no problem. So bummed that I had to leave immediately to make my Eurotunnel crossing time...didn't get to try anything they had for in-house consumption only.

Showed up this morning and alas, FF and LPF are now sold out. The FF sold out yesterday although you can still get it to drink on premises. Only things for sale to go were gueze, rose, grand cru, iris, st gilloise.

Did the cellar (first one closest to the bottle sales area) still have FF bottles or was it empty as well? Cantillon selling out for a few days while they label more is common.

LPF being sold out on 2-3 weeks is not that special, but FF already sold out?

I can't believe that, they had an enormously stock two weeks a go. Probably they runned out their stock with labels.
