expressing extreme disappointment with new seasonal schedule equals trolling? :-/

I think its funny how much hate fruit beers get all the while the same people are backhanding it to JPGs of fruited sours they would trade anything in their "cellars" for. The fact that YOU don't like fruit beers does not mean they are not good or marketable. The stigma that fruit wussifies beer is stupid. Unless its so sour only a real MAN could drink it.

No testifying against the quality of a beer because of a format and price change (which I am not a fan of) along with demanding Founders buy an oak forrest and payroll an army of coopers to satisfy tickers = trolling.

This was slightly different than their normal Black IPA. Both are fantastic!

I talked to a brewer from Founders at a Founders party at Ashly's a local craft beer bar. He told me that KBS is a unique stout before barreled, Not one of their other products...not the imperial or breakfast stout.

I would love to see the tba to be a black dipa. Would also like to try a brown ale by founders.

I've never really felt they've nailed that category yet. Had Crystal Victory and Diamond Mountain Brown over the past year and didn't feel their yeast fit very well. Obviously just an opinion of mine and they've nailed other categories so no reason they can't pin it here.

Everyone always seems to be complaining about Founders, but I'm just glad that Florida started getting Founders a couple months ago.

Here's hoping one day CBS makes it's rounds again. I like the majority of Founder's seasonal releases even if I occasionally take them for granted. I'm certainly more curious to see what Backstage releases will be released this year. Can't wait to try Sweet Repute.

The Bruery doesn't belong in the same conversation as Founders. Founders makes great beer that doesn't need to barrel age every damn thing they brew or throw brett in it. Not to mention the Bruery's price points are stupid. Wake me up when the Bruery makes a six pack.

    Bingo. Nail on the head.

All day cans have been flying in most stores at a real nice price point..$15.99 for 12 beers is just about as cheap as you'll see good craft.

TBA Speculation pt. 2.....I was at Founders on Saturday and had the newly-added "Grand Moff", their Imperial Black IPA.

I really really hope that the TBA is this or some variation of it. I feel I am in the minority here but I absolutely love Black IPAs and they did an absolutely amazing job with this one. Please be here for the long run...

And BA Imperial is awesome! Better than KBS, IMO. If he were right, Why would we not see some BA Imperial?

Question, what ratio of FBS to Rubeaus do you use when you blend? I'm interested in trying that next summer.

    Good news: more Imperial Stout.
Bad news: still no six packs of Breakfast Stout.

Overall, still a net gain in my book.

I can't imagine it did well, reintroduced after so long with less beer for more money, great beer or not people will resent it. Distributors are starting their clearance deals now. unfortunate to see such a great beer take such a fall. Maybe people will get used to it

unfortunately getting New Glarus outside of Wisconsin is impossible? would love to have Raspberry Tart offered here in Central IL, but unfortunately even for a state so close i have to make a 5 hour drive to get it :slight_frown: i can get Rubaeus and keep my wife happy though

I had Red's Rye on draft on Friday. It was my first time drinking it since I bought a case back in Feb before it became a seasonal. Delicious as always. Bottles don't seem to be selling too well...No surprise given that the 4-pack is actually priced higher than the 6-pack used to be.

Agreed. Was home in MI during the release and snagged a couple six-packs, loved it fresh, but it really fell off rapidly. This sounds ├╝ber hop snobbish, but honestly, because of it's malt body it got out of balance at a crazy fast rate. I know how to store beers, that one fell off faster than Pliny in the sun on a hot day.

Founders destroys Bruery! As I believe someone said earlier (Cassino?) I live in IL and have access to FOunders pretty easily aside from driving the couple hrs up north to MI. But the Bruery is just nuts on how much they charge for what they're actually putting out. BA, BA, BA....that's pretty much all they do. I like some of their stuff, but give me the variety brewery (exp: Founders) who can make great/decent/good brews across the table than someone who strictly pumps out just one thing (BA!)

They have different business models and different aspirations for what they're creating. I don't think it's fair to compare Founders to The Bruery. Both world class breweries with different visions on beer. I'll keep buying both barrel aged or not!

  29. end_27

    end_27 Initiate (0) Sep 23, 2012 Illinois

I agree with you....but in a sense the entire BA thing is getting a little ridiculous to a degree as EVERYTHING is barrel aged now! And I think that can take away from a beer by which ever brewery makes it whether Founders, The Bruery, etc.

I think the backstage pass series should be discontinued. Then everybody could participate in threads talking about the good old days when we had options like mango and doom.

We see specialty beers from Firestone out on the East Coast, but not a lot of the other seasonals/standards that you enjoy in CA (DBA, Velvet Merlin, Pale 31 etc.).

In another thought, do we REALLY want to see 3x the KBS? Do you think people are actually going to be more happy if there is? Do we think maybe it won't be as 'special' of a beer if a lot more is made? Just a thought to ponder!

I'll tell you what, I sure am enjoying my Bourbon County and variants! Same would go with KBS. A yearly, available release would be nice. After all, once you get your share you still have to wait a whole year for the new release. That's enough anticipation to keep it feeling like a "special beer."

Founder's taproom, better deal still is the $9 growler fills. 2.25/ pint is an outstanding deal for that beer.

In NJ shops are lucky to get a case of KBS. So if it was 3x the production, there maybe a 2 bottle limit instead of the 1 most stores go with. Getting a 4 pack requires alot of work in this state.

I like KBS a lot, but it's harder to get than it's worth. IMHO, it's different, but not as good as BCBS which is very available.

For me, I won't be hunting down my 2 or 4 bottles this year. It's not worth the trouble. However, if it were at least REMOTELY available, I'd buy it regularly.

Agreed. Them coming to Florida is, in my opinion, one of the best beer related things to happen to the state in 2013.

unlike new Belgium that is. Founders has come out of the blue to become one of my favorite breweries. I am looking forward to anything and everything new coming from founders.
