Due to pick up two bottles on Thursday. I HOPE this beer is worth the $18 per bottle w/o the option to try it first. Anyone else tasting it should please weigh in.

I have heard good things and quite frankly would be surprised if it was NOT on tap.

I hope it is as I'll be there Thursday as well but the rumor I read was that it wouldn't be on tap until Saturday. I hope that's wrong considering I saw someone on Instagram post a glass of it on tap in Washington DC today

For some reason I doubt this beer is worth the 18$ Founders is charging for it. I know they are charging that much because they aged it for 16 months but still this isn't an imperial stout that people go nuts for it. It's a unique style in a wheat whine. However, I could easily see this beer being sought after in the coming years

Shorts doesn't filter any of their beers though.
Which is cool as i enjoy a unfiltered beer.

Charging too much for a beer that you see will be "sought after in coming years"? I'm not sure I see your point(s)?

Yeah...I think I'll still buy them. Drink one and hold the other for later trading purposes:wink:

It's probably got floaties not from being a wheat based beer, which would just be protein haze, but probably particles from the barrels floating around in there. See Backwoods Bastard for reference of said floaties.

Stopped in last night and was told Wednesday it will be on tap...which is a good thing, since I have a Wednesday ticket

It means people won't buy this beer when it's released because it's 18$ but it will be sought after in a couple years by traders

Somehow I hadn't heard about this until now... Guess it got snowed under by all the BCBS hype.

I'm hoping to try it. I REALLY love Wheatwines.. and for that matter.. Ryewines..

I have a feeling this release will sell because of barrel aging, but expect it to fare better than Mango, and probably slight better than Frangelic, but not quite Doom territory.

Got two bottles tonight. I'll probably open one tomorrow and cellar the other for a bit.

I tried this last night and really enjoyed it. Soft carbonation and full mouth-feel. You can definitely taste the maple and I was getting some nice coconut notes which I am guessing are from the wood?

Anyway I thought it was very well done and if I had more money I would buy a second bottle. If you like big, barrel aged beers, seek this one out.

Just finished a bottle...it's AMAZING!!!! Super boozy, very bourbon and butterscotchy on the nose. It's also VERY sweet. This is not only Yummy as holy hell, it's gonna kick yer ass as well. A sipper, for sure...

Why, because you were expecting to drink beer instead of straight-up bourbon?

I like your logic. It's not an imperial stout, so its overpriced...lol

If you like this one, you should give New Holland Pilgrim's Dole a shot. Side by side, they didn't taste that much different.
