Guess it's not too early to start talking to the store owners I know and get on a list or three...

A store manager told me about this release (and the release date) several weeks ago. In fact, he told me just after I handed him a couple bottles of something good I picked up while traveling. Take care of your local beer guy or gal, and they will take care of you. :sunglasses:

The ticketed release will be nice for locals but I’m thinking this will be like KBS with plenty out in the wild for anyone that makes it a priority to get some.

True but you have to also include the hype around the beer and the hysteria is will cause at every single liquor and party store around. I know locally, the buzz is real and I have a feeling people are going to go all out to get as much of it as possible.

That’s going to be a very expensive week for me for beer, with BCBS coming out the week before. I better start saving money now! Can’t wait to get a couple bottles

I know one store that will probably charge $50 for the 750's (guarantee it will be $40+)
This release is going to be a mess at retailers in SE MI.
So I will be getting a ticket and driving over to GR.
Which means I'll be able to have one or two while there as well .

I am going to try and get tickets to the release. I have a hunch that'll be about the only way I get a bottle in Southwest Ohio.

Just like KBS, I love the idea of the ticketed release. Here comes my next road-trip to see my family in Michigan!!

I am on a considerably limited budget, so I've been trying to be careful for the past 2 months or so with these two exact releases in mind.

Don't hold your breath. They know CBS is their most sought after beer. The whole series thus far was to waste barrels and make CBS more limited. To make matters worse they won't even release 4 packs.

Which of their other beers has been aged in the barrels previously used for aging maple syrup before Founders put beer in them?

Founders did not increase its maple program by any noticeable margin. It will be a limited release. Like actually limited this time. Those other barrels could have been used to house maple syrup. They were not. The end.

I thought bourbon barrels were plenty available...?

If anything, the limiting factor in the past has been maple syrup barrels, and while they used up some of those earlier this year (Frootwood), they haven't released Project Pam in some time. They also have an entire facility dedicated to producing barrel aged beers now, which went operational for this year's barrel aged series (hence the spike in production). I wouldn't be surprised if they limited CBS to maintain the luster, but I highly doubt it would be a by-product of burning up barrels at their new facility. If they're burning through barrels that fast, that facility won't be around much longer.

Frootwood used maple syrup barrels earlier this year.

Ahh, but you see Founders doesn't age the maple syrup. They buy the barrels used from a source that produces maple syrup and ages some in barrels. This would mean have no control over how many barrels that maple syrup producer has available to pass on to them.
