Good... now that they have a common sense format, I will seek it out this year

My thoughts as well. Very much looking forward to snagging individual bottles of broken-up 4 packs from Whole Foods shelves.

"In addition, Founders had indicated that this year’s version will mark the last time CBS will be released “for the foreseeable future” and that the brewery has “no immediate plans to bottle CBS in any format” after 2019."
Seems like a strategic comment to promote scarcity and encourage sales.

Founders also pushed people to drink their 2017 stash because the maple, etc. could fall off. Shortly after was an announcement for a 2018 release.

It will be the last time they brew/bottle "CBS", because they'll be brewing up VCBS (Very Canadian Breakfast Stout) going forward, where they actually add in maple for the people complaining about the lack of it after drinking Canuckley.

Cool if I can find a single. The whole $32.99 bomber thing is why I've never pulled the trigger. I'm a cheap ass.

You're not a cheap ass. At $33 that beer is considerably overpriced.
  12. BeastOfTheNortheast

Well put. Any beer that is over $5 for a 16 oz pour or less, I will not buy unless it's at a bar. Call me cheap, but there are many great beers out there for much less.
  13. Raime

Raime Meyvn (1,294) Jun 4, 2012 Korea (North)

Exactly. At that kind of money I'd be disgusted with myself if it were any thing less than the best beer I've ever had. I'm sure it's great, but in nearly 1100 ticks I've never had anything I'd pay that much for.

Seen local places dropping their prices to $19.99/bottle just to get it off the shelf. Would still pass on said bottles for some Lizard of Koz that's still laying around at a few stores. :beers:

I did notice that it didn't say 4 packs of 12 oz bottles, just 12 oz bottles. Assuming they will come already individually. Still glad they changed the format. I'll be bugging my distributor to make sure I get ample supply. :stuck_out_tongue:

In 12oz doses I'll buy a bunch if I can find it. Bombers suck.

I bet it is in 4-packs even though it didn't say it. They did for Canada.

It's not really that hyped anymore, it collects dust in a lot of places.

I also doubt they really care. They make a truck load off of All Day IPA, and probably Solid Gold now too.

If they can hit $30/4pk (seems high but let's be real)
I'm probably in, for the first time ever.

I bought a bunch of Michigan Maple Jesus @ 8.99-9.99, and CBS was such a horrible deal, even compared to THAT, so I never bothered. I would like to try this famed beer, but I know at $29.99/750 there's no chance I won't be disappointed, so I never bothered.

I've seen it in three places this year, mid $20 2018 bottles. I'd go for a reasonably-priced 12oz, but the BA Sumatra is the one I'm really waiting for.

I think that's becoming fairly common in a lot of places. One place in town here that purchased a significant amount, has now discounted it down to $18.97 a bottle for some months now. Still doesn't seem to be selling.
  31. Lazhal

    Lazhal Devotee (463) Mar 13, 2011 Michigan

Based on a $24.99 750ml the cost of a 4 pack at the same $/oz would be $47.22.

A $29.99 4 pack ($7.50 bottle) would then represent a 36% reduction in price from the 2017/2018 format.

Canada saw single 12oz bottles for I think CAD7.99 in 17/18'. Given the current exchange rate (0.77), that comes out to $6.15 or $24.6 per four pack.

My guess is the brewery will have CBS 4 packs priced at somewhere between $24.99-$29.99.

    Yes I know
Didn't really care for it when first released.
But it's actually rather good with some age on it. I've had a few bottles recently that were amazing. The flavors seem to have mingled well with some age. Still a dessert beer for sure. But not as in your face "fubar" as first released. :beers:

So they finally listen to their customers and offer 12 ouncers, albeit individual $9 bottles ( my guess for PA pricing), but they get the last word by saying this is the last time. I guess they win!!

Note this doesn't say they won't re-release it in 2020; it just says they don't have plan to do so at the moment. For all we know, they may not have set plans for any of the Barrel-Aged Series that far out. I agree they're just trying to supercharge the hype machine with that comment.
