That's a heck of a drive! You must really love Cowiche Canyon!

Well, I hope you get a chance to shop around and find a few other of our local fresh hops, too.

@PerfectPorter, first, thanks for drawing to our attention that Fremont bumped up the release date by a day. It was previously set for 9/23 so this is good information to have.

Second, if history is any indication (and this year is different from past years for many reasons, so it very well might not be), Fremont generally makes a lot of Cowiche Canyon. I think it even sees distribution in Oregon, and possibly other states, though folks there can confirm or deny that. All of that said, if you are driving up anyway, I wouldn't anticipate that you'll have any difficulty ordering online and picking up. That is what I did with Field to Ferment, and it was super easy and convenient. By the time I got there (pretty close to closing) I believe my 4-pack was the only one in left in the cooler, and there was no line, but as long as you get your order in I imagine they'd hold it for you for a few days if necessary. But it's never been difficult to get any of Fremont's fresh hop beers within, say, a week of release without jumping through any hoops.

    Good luck and happy birthday!

I'll certainly be looking for FH Crikey although that may make it down this way.

Looks like you could order crowlers for pickup at the brewery. Not terribly far from Fremont. If that fails, bm me, I have a can I could give you

With online and telephone ordering an option, this just might be the year I get to try Cowiche Canyon. I've struck out 7 years in a row.

Block 15 releasing Fresh Catch this week. Not sure if they’ve done a fresh hop beer before, but I’ll be looking for this one

This is good and accurate information. Cowiche Canyon typically is available in pdx, though it tends to sell out fast. So if you get an instagram about availability at John's or Belmont Station (for example), I would head right over.

That being said, last year Fremont had crowlers of different hop varietals in the cold box, and I felt like a kid in a candy shop when I stopped in. So I certainly wouldn't try to dissuade you from driving up. I'm sure you'll have a fun time.

It was our wedding reception beer a couple years back, so obviously I'm a huge fan.

    And likewise... Happy Birthday!

    Thank you.

This is such a last minute trip. I had planned to go to Port Townsend and maybe the San Juan Islands when it was supposed to be 95 degrees here before the smoke chilled everything off and ended up in Netarts. Now I just want to go north before it gets too cold to get up there. I haven't done my homework. I'm only familiar with Fremont, Reuben's, Bale Breaker, and Stoup in that area.

Good food recommendations are welcome as well as any tap houses.

I don't even know where I'm staying yet, but will book something tonight before I hit the road in the morning.

The only thing that can go wrong is Barley Brown's drops their FH Pallet Jack tomorrow or Wednesday and I'm that much farther away from Baker City.

Fremont Cowiche Canyon is worth the 3-hours and change it takes to drive up there from here.

Never seen it, but I tend to like Block 15's hoppy stuff (like Sticky Hands...yum), so I hope I see it up here.

They definitely made it last year. I tried it on tap at Loyal Legion. My comments:

"Pale ale with fresh Amarillo hops. Tasty, but not the Block 15 fresh hop ale I was hoping for."
