I also had a straggler last night...We had a company party at McMenamin's Anderson School, and they had a fresh hop lager on tap (bartender told me they just put it on, but not sure I believe her). It was fine.

They may have just tapped that keg, but......

That wouldn't surprise me. Lagers do take much longer to produce than ales and if it was a late harvest hop...

    As for Japan...

    Four fresh hop beers.
    1 Kolsch
    1 Belgian Blonde
    1 Brut IPA
    1 Pale

Moonlight brewing had two wet hop beers packaged in late October/ November last year. Not sure on the logistics there but both stated the hops came from Sonoma County hop farms which would presumably have a much later season than the typical hop growing regions.

Haven't seen either of those beers this year

Spotted today, canned 11/23. Grabbed a 4pk after a pour of FW Wookie Jack at Davis Beer Shoppe. Feels like the malt bill on this one is fighting with the fresh (wet) hop elements. Much 'heartier' than SN Celebration, where i find the fresh elements with far greater prominence.

This is all I could find on their site about it
Not sure how long it ages, but they also have Homegrown (their other wet hop ale) listed as on tap and to go at their taproom. Not for shipping and I can't find any other section to get information about their beers. Very curious why their wet hop beers come out so much later than everything else

I think Moonlight does the flash freeze hop thing.

Is that a wild guess or an informed guess?

It’s the sort of thing the internet is best for—unsubstantiated speculation! I have only the vaguest of recollection that they were in the nitro hop camp. Google is no help here, but maybe someone in the know can chime in.

I had Homegrown on cask at Toronado this weekend. It was good, very muted and very much an English style pale/mild. They used hops from their own farm for Homegrown, so maybe they waited a while to brew with them.

They label it a "wet hop" ale, so it sure seems like they are abusing the hell out of that term whatever they're doing. That or they just have some remarkably late maturing variety going on down there in Sonoma county
